Georgia Southern vs App State prediction

Georgia Southern vs App State best bet: App State -6.5 (-105)

The Appalachian State Mountaineers' strength in the trenches should be the difference Thursday night in Boone, NC.

The Mountaineers allow just 110 rushing yards per game, while the Georgia Southern Eagles give up a staggering 240 yards on the ground.

That mismatch should give App State control of tempo behind Sun Belt Conference rushing leader Rashod Dubinion and his 94.5 rushing yards per game.

Georgia Southern’s defense doesn’t travel. They are 0-4 on the road and allow an average of 42 points per game, and rank among the worst nationally in rushing touchdowns allowed (25).

Georgia Southern quarterback JC French is a volume passer, but the constant pressure App State will apply should produce too many stalled drives, allowing the Mountaineers to outscore the Eagles.

App State wins the war of the trenches and covers the spread.

Georgia Southern vs App State same-game parlay

Both offenses play fast. Georgia Southern’s soft run defense and App State’s leaky passing defense set up for plenty of chunk plays and a shootout Over the total.

Rashod Dubinion has rushed for more than 67 yards in five of his last eight games and meets the Sun Belt’s worst rushing defense.
