Expert Week 4 CFB ATS picks
Texas (-5.5) vs. Tennessee:
Tennessee +5.5
Arch Manning is coming off an 11-for-25 game against UTSA and now hits the road against a team that's not far behind the Longhorns in the SP+ rankings. Texas lost outright in three of five road games last season, and won the other two by three and seven points against teams much worse than Tennessee.
Illinois vs. Ohio State (-27.5):
Illinois +27.5
There will be points for Illinois to score now that a weaker OSU defense is back to playing teams that aren't Ball State and Kent State. Illinois isn't Texas, but the chains should move enough to keep this within the big number: 41-17 Buckeyes.
Notre Dame (-27.5) vs. Purdue:
Purdue +27.5
Notre Dame is struggling to generate explosive plays in the run game like it normally does, and that puts a ceiling on its ability to smash Power Four opponents. It's also worth noting that Purdue has scored 44, 36, and 38 points in its three games, the last two coming against P4 programs.
Oklahoma vs. Georgia (-13.5):
Georgia -13.5
I can't possibly back an Oklahoma team that scored 14 points against New Mexico a week after scoring 10 against Michigan. John Mateer threw three interceptions over thoise two games, and Georgia has shown me more than enough to trust them with this number.
Ole Miss vs. Florida (-3.5):
Ole Miss +3.5
This line keeps moving toward Florida, with so many expecting a historic Ole Miss letdown, but anything beyond a field goal is too rich for my taste. Tyler Chambliss is playing as well as anyone in the country, and this is another golden opportunity to add to his Heisman case.
Iowa vs. Michigan (-5.5):
Iowa +5.5
The Wolverines pulling away from UTEP is not enough to clear them from my early-season doubts. Iowa has given up 13 points through three games, and if scoring is hard to come by, I'd much rather be holding the points.

Wisconsin vs. Penn State (-9.5):
Penn State -9.5
Wisconsin's second-half performance against Notre Dame looms large in another big matchup, this time a true road test in Happy Valley. I'm not moved by what the Badgers did against Eastern Michigan, and am happy to bank on Rocco Becht and a ground game averaging 5.1 yards per carry if this number stays below -10.
South Carolina vs. Alabama (-12.5):
Alabama -11.5
South Carolina got outscored 41-18 to end last week's game against Mississippi State, and while Alabama looked shaky at times against FSU, Keelon Russell is looking more and more like the real deal.
Texas A&M vs. LSU (-8.5):
LSU -8.5
Texas A&M just got punked by Kentucky and allowed 7.6 yards per play at home. LSU should be without distractions now that Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford is in the rearview, and this Tigers defense should control the game in a way it couldn't against Ole Miss.
Oregon (-2.5) vs. USC:
Oregon -2.5
Any and all notes about Oregon's early-season struggles are taken and considered, but I have simply not seen anything to consider trusting USC's defense against a team with this much talent. The Trojans just gave up 460 yards on 6.7 yards per play to Rutgers, and that's only an appetizer for what an angry Dan Lanning will have in store for them this weekend. It's an unexpected watershed moment for the Ducks, and I suspect they'll answer the call.
