While Seton Hall has seemingly hit a wall, St. John's will hold down the fort at home and take care of some Big East business.

The St. John’s Red Storm will look to win a fifth straight games as they host the Seton Hall Pirates on Tuesday night.

The Pirates are a bit overrated and will have a tough time competing with a well-rounded opponent on the road, which is why I’m taking the Red Storm to cover in my Seton Hall vs. St. John’s predictions below.

Read on to see my complete analysis of tonight’s Big East matchup in my free college basketball picks for Tuesday, January 20.

Seton Hall vs St. John's prediction

Seton Hall vs St. John's best betSt. John’s -10.5 (-110)

While the Seton Hall Pirates were ranked as recently as last week, it’s unlikely that they will be considered anywhere near a top-25 team nationally when we get to the end of the season.

They’ve now lost two straight at home, and have been unimpressive on the offensive end of the court, shooting 43.4% from the field and scoring 72.8 ppg on the season.

On the other side of this game, it’s surprising that the St. John’s Red Storm hasn’t yet cracked the national rankings – though it is on the doorstep of doing so.

The Red Storm are a top 30 team in both offensive and defensive rating this year, and are 6-1 in Big East conference play.

Senior forward Zuby Ejiofor leads the way with 16.2 ppg, but his teammates contribute plenty of offense as well, with three others averaging double figures on the season.

St. John’s pace is also masking its defensive efforts, with opponents scoring 72.8 ppg against it – a number that looks mediocre until you see how it compares to the 86 points per game the Red Storm are putting up themselves.

Seton Hall’s defense will stop this game from becoming a complete runaway early, but they don’t have the weapons to hang with the Red Storm for 40 minutes, especially on the road.

St. John’s has covered in four straight games, and I’m betting on it making it five in a row tonight.

Seton Hall vs St. John's same-game parlay

While I love St. John’s to cover here, I don’t think this will be a particularly high-scoring game, as the Pirates play tough defense and tend to slow games down to a crawl, both of which have me backing the

Under tonight. I’ll also take Ejiofor to hit his scoring total of 15.5 points, a number he has gone Over in have of his last six outings.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
