Expert college basketball moneyline picks: Nov. 2
Army vs Duke:
Duke
Just take Duke to cover the -42.5. This should be an all-out bloodbath, as the Blue Devils have already given every team they've faced in the preseason the business. Army is in for an evening in hell, and Halloween was on Saturday.
UCLA vs Arizona:
UCLA
Let's get crazy and back the Bruins to take down the Arizona Wildcats on opening day. UCLA returns three starters from a year ago, giving this group some valuable experience. If Nikola Kusturica can live up to his potential as a future NBA draft pick, this team could be a force to be reckoned with!
West Georgia vs DePaul:
DePaul
Year three under head coach Chris Holtmann should be the year the DePaul Blue Demons take a massive leap forward. Last season was a great coming-out party, showing the Big East that they're on the rise. The addition of former Tulsa standout Ade Popoola gives this Blue Demons roster the offensive firepower it has desperately needed since the Bush senior administration.
Miami vs Florida:
Florida
Florida returns 11 players from last season in an era where guys leave all the time. That amount of familiarity is too much not to love out of the gate. Gators.
Purdue vs Gonzaga:
Gonzaga
Mark Few always has his guys ready for these big season-opening matchups. Last year, Gonzaga took down Oklahoma by 15 points. The year before, the Bulldogs beat Baylor by nearly 40. The season before that, they picked up a 15-point win over Yale.
Love the Bulldogs out the gate.
La Salle vs Houston:
Houston
Name something more fun than backing Houston against a mid-major college basketball team. I'll wait. Nothing!
Take La Salle's team total under for a fun sweat this evening, even if it's sitting below 50. Kelvin Sampson will have his boys motivated to play suffocating defense for 40 straight minutes.
Niagara vs West Virginia:
West Virginia
The second year of the Ross Hodge era in Morgantown should be a thrill ride. The former North Texas coach has brought a slow, hard-nosed defensive identity to this Mountaineers program, and in year two, the offense should take a step forward.
Seattle vs Hawaii:
Seattle
Seattle U is coming off a strong exhibition performance against Oregon, taking down the Ducks 71-65. Hawaii, meanwhile, has only faced Hawaii Pacific in exhibition play, cruising to an 89-60 victory. But is that really the type of competition that's going to prepare you for the season?
Give me Seattle U!
Montana vs Oregon:
Montana
This is on my card today. It's a complete coaching mismatch, as the Ducks now have former DePaul head coach Tony Stubblefield running the ship following Dana Altman's retirement less than a month before the season.
Nothing I've read about this Ducks team has inspired much confidence. I love Montana here.
Ohio State vs BYU:
BYU
The Cougars return their second-leading scorer from a year ago while adding former Michigan State forward and Utah Jazz Summer League standout Jaxon Kohler. Not to mention, they brought in Collin Chandler, Kentucky's leading 3-point shooter from last season. BYU should be an absolute force once again.
Today's college basketball moneyline combo
Gonzaga
BYU
Florida
Three of my favorite looks for tonight's slate; all three rosters are polished and should come out of the gates hot.
