It isn't easy to sweep a season series against a closely-matched opponent. But with upstarts Iowa and Santa Clara hosting perennial contenders Purdue and Gonzaga, I'm backing the programs with pedigree.
My college basketball picks for Saturday, February 14 feature the Boilermakers and Bulldogs along with Colorado State in a revenge spot at home.

Purdue vs
Iowa
Time: 5:00 p.m. ET
Location: Iowa City, IA
TV: FOX
Pick: Purdue (-135)
The Purdue Boilermakers have played one of the toughest schedules in the country and have still gone 20-4 while boasting a 7-4 record in Quad 1 games. Meanwhile, the Iowa Hawkeyes are 2-4 in Quad 1 games, including a 79-72 loss at Purdue last month.
Iowa's offense is Bennett Stirtz and nothing else. Purdue can beat you with either Braden Smith, Trey Kaufman-Renn, or Foster Loyer.
The Boilermakers rank 20th in the country in 2PT% (58.8%) and 14th in rebounding rate. They'll torch an Iowa interior sitting outside the Top 200 in 2-point defense (52.7%) and struggling on the glass.
Wyoming vs
Colorado State
Time: 4:00 p.m. ET
Location: Fort Collins, CO
TV: Mountain West Network
Pick: Colorado State (-220)
The Wyoming Cowboys are 2-7 in their last nine, with both of those wins coming at home. They are 1-7 on the road.
The Cowboys haven't won in six straight trips to Fort Collins, where the Colorado State Rams are 9-4 this season. This is also a revenge spot for CSU, who lost 68-57 in Laramie two weeks ago.
The Rams went a horrific 4-for-23 (17.4%) from deep that day, while the Cowboys went 12-for-25 (48%). CSU is eighth in 3PT% (39.4%) and Wyoming is outside the Top 200 (33%), so we should see both sides regress to the mean.
Gonzaga vs
Santa Clara
Time: 10:30 p.m. ET
Location: Santa Clara, CA
TV: ESPN
Pick: Gonzaga (-200)
This is the best team the Santa Clara Broncos have had in decades. I still don't think they're good enough to upset the No. 12 Gonzaga Bulldogs, who beat them 89-77 in Spokane last month.
The Broncos excel when they can force turnovers and jump out on fast breaks, but the Zags turn the ball over at the 20th-lowest rate. Santa Clara's offense is efficient inside the arc but Gonzaga ranks 29th in 2-point defense (46.8%).
The Zags shoot a sizzling 58.3% inside the arc themselves, and that combined with their strong offensive rebounding should lead to a win.
