For just the second time this year, the Michigan Wolverines will try to recover from losing a game as they host the Minnesota Golden Gophers tonight.

Michigan lost the top spot in the rankings in a showdown with Duke over the weekend. After the Wolverines' previous loss, they failed to cover the spread in their next five games.

My Minnesota vs. Michigan predictions and college basketball picks expect that trend to continue as Minnesota covers its biggest underdog spread of the season on Tuesday, February 24.

Minnesota vs Michigan prediction

Minnesota vs Michigan best bet: Minnesota +22 (-110)

The Michigan Wolverines have responded well as a huge favorite this season, going 6-2 ATS when favored by 20 or more points.

However, in the Big Ten, familiar opponents have outperformed expectations. The Wolverines are 4-9 as double-digit favorites in conference, including the five straight ATS losses following Michigan’s first straight-up loss.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are 1-1 ATS as double-digit dogs this season.

Minnesota has won two straight, shooting accurately, controlling the defensive boards, and defending the perimeter as well as it has all conference season. If they continue that trend, the Gophers may not spring the upset, but they’ll avoid the rout.

Minnesota vs Michigan same-game parlay

This game is a contrast in styles.

Michigan runs at the No. 13 pace in the nation and is facing its lowest Over/Under cutoff of the season. In their only previous game in the 140s, the Wolverines went Under 149.5 against San Diego State.

Minnesota has the No. 355-ranked pace and has gone Under in six of its eight games with a total this high.

Langston Reynolds has scored in double figures five times in the last seven games and in 11 of 14. Leading scorer Cade Tyson will likely be the focus of Michigan’s perimeter defense, which should open things up for Reynolds to slash and score.
