Duke vs NC State Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight's College Basketball Game

No matter where Duke and NC State sit in the ACC, Tobacco Road rivalries hit different in March. Jason Logan believes the Wolfpack's road heavy sked is skewing their ratings and expects at least 20 minutes of big-time basketball from NCSU.

Tobacco Road matchups mean so much more in March.

The Duke Blue Devils aim for sole possession of the ACC regular season crown when they come to Raleigh for another grudge match with the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

The Wolfpack need a big bounceback after a dreadful second half in the loss to Notre Dame on the weekend, putting their ACC tournament seeding in peril.

My Duke vs. NC State predictions and college basketball picks expect Will Wade’s guys to come out swinging against the No. 1 Blue Devils — as they often do against ranked rivals.

Duke vs NC State prediction

Duke vs NC State best bet: NC State first half +5.5 (-115)

The NC State Wolfpack have lost four of their last five, with three of those defeats coming on the road.

They botched a halftime lead at Notre Dame on Saturday, and second halves are becoming an issue during this slide. However, the opening 20 minutes are a different story for the Pack (+7.1 1H margin at home).

The Duke Blue Devils face a daunting situational spot with NCSU sandwiched between a win over Virginia and a finale with North Carolina on Saturday.

Game models sit as low as an 8-point win from Duke, with NC State hanging around at home in the first half.

Duke vs NC State same-game parlay

The Wolfpack’s recent results have been tempered by a road-heavy schedule and some late collapses. Head coach Will Wade has been able to avoid extended slumps, and NC State can throw with the big boys, having scored victories against UNC and Clemson. After Saturday’s second-half no-show against the Irish, this return home will light a fire under the Pack for the first 20 minutes.

Duke runs the risk of a letdown after a one-sided win over No. 11 Virginia, and this trip to Raleigh sits ahead of a finale with UNC at Cameron Indoor this coming weekend. The Blue Devils could be flat and unfocused, at least in the first half.

Darrion Williams has played his best in the toughest spots. A return home will help his 3-point shooting, which ran cold in February. Projections sit beyond 14 points for the 6-foot-6 senior.

The Wolfpack are weak on the glass and Patrick Ngongba works against a slimmer NCSU front court that’s down a 6-foot-10 center. Game projections sit north of six rebounds with some models as high as eight boards.
