This is a heavyweight matchup between two of the most talented teams in the country. In a raucous environment at the Marriott Center in Provo, the advantage goes to the BYU Cougars.
For all the positives you can list about the Arizona Wildcats, it’s important to keep in mind this is still a very young team. There are three freshmen in the starting lineup, including the two leading scorers (Koa Peat, Brayden Burries).
Youth and inexperience haven’t come back to bite them yet, but they could against elite teams in tough environments.
BYU ranks within the Top 25 in adjusted efficiency on both ends of the court and has arguably the most talented player in the country in AJ Dybantsa.
So far, the Wildcats have played three road Big 12 games, but all have been against teams ranked outside the Top 40 at KenPom. BYU represents a different level of competition, as the Cougars are 9-0 at home, with eight of those victories coming by double-digit margins.
