Pistons vs Bulls picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

The Pistons are coming off of a ridiculous performance against the Jazz, as they went 19 for 37 from behind the three-point line. Detroit just isn’t going to be able to come close to replicating that shooting performance against a very good Chicago defense, but that doesn’t mean the Pistons aren’t capable of keeping this game somewhat close.

One thing to like about Detroit in this matchup is that Cade Cunningham and Killian Hayes are a solid defensive duo, and they should compete and make guys like DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine work extremely hard for their buckets. That’s important when facing this Bulls team, as both of those players are capable of scoring in a number of different ways. If Detroit can just force more bad shots than usual, the team should be in decent shape here.

Offensively, Cunningham has been in a groove lately and he should be able to turn in a good performance again here. He’s a big guard with the ability to shoot and make plays for his teammates, and he’s one of the few players that Lonzo Ball won’t have a size advantage over at the point guard position.

Also, Saddiq Bey has been on a tear for the Pistons lately. Bey has scored at least 21 points in nine of his last 13 games, and he’s really shooting the ball well from deep — while doing so on a lot of attempts. His ability to hit tough shots could help Detroit linger around for longer than people think.

Prediction: Pistons +14 (-110)

Over the last 10 games, the Bulls have the top offensive rating in all of basketball and they now get to face a Pistons team that is ranked just 22nd in the league in defensive rating. Sure, Detroit might be able to get a hand up on some shots in this one, but that doesn’t mean that Chicago won’t be scoring a lot of points in this game.

The Over is 7-4 in the last 11 games the Bulls have played, and it also seems like the oddsmakers might know something about this one. Despite the fact that these teams have gone way Under the total in each of their previous two meetings this year, the number was set rather high here. The Over also happens to be 5-0 in Chicago home games with a total of 220 or higher this year.

Prediction: Over 220.5 (-110)

Nikola Vucevic’s rebound total is surprisingly low considering what he’s already done to the Pistons already this season. In two meetings with Detroit thus far, the big man is averaging 17.0 rebounds per game and has just been a force on the glass. Considering Detroit hasn’t made many changes to its rotation since then, it’s hard to see any reason that the 31-year-old won’t be able to do it again.

The Pistons have the second-worst rebounding percentage in all of basketball, and that’s just a bad sign heading into a meeting with a big center that knows how to use his body.

Pick: Nikola Vucevic Over 12.5 rebounds (+100)
