For the second time in three days, the Heat and Cavaliers clash. With both teams still fighting for playoff positioning, Jason Logan predictions a postseason-like intensity that keeps this score below the total.

A two-day stay in Cleveland in March doesn’t seem like the most appealing layover. You can only spend so much time at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

However, after the Miami Heat snapped a five-game losing skid against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, Rocket Arena feels like a home away from home for the desperate Heat.

Both teams are fighting down the home stretch, trying to better their spot in the Eastern Conference postseason picture. Our Heat vs. Cavaliers predictions see this rematch burning with a little playoff-like passion.

That has my NBA picks siding with a low-scoring finish in Cleveland tonight.

Heat vs Cavaliers prediction

Heat vs Cavaliers best bet: Under 242.5 (-112)

Wednesday’s game finished well below the closing total of 243.5 O/U, with the Miami Heat winning 120-103 over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Miami was playing its second game with a healthy rotation after missing key contributors over the past month. The Heat looked locked in on defense, but also thrived from beyond the arc.

Miami made 18 of its 45 three-point attempts which was its biggest outside effort since March 6. The Heat aren’t the most active team from three-point range and average less than 14 triples, so a repeat perimeter performance isn’t likely.

Let’s not forget, the Cavaliers were playing the second game of back-to-back outings on Wednesday night and enter Friday with renewed legs and focus.

Cleveland isn’t the best three-point defense, but it does get a boost with center Jarrett Allen potentially returning to the lineup tonight. Allen is an elite paint protector, which allows perimeter defenders to play with their heels above the arc knowing that they have a shot blocker behind them.

As mentioned, the Heat looked very good on the defensive end, especially when compared to recent efforts. Having everyone back in action was equally important to the defense, allowing Miami to roll out fresh legs, counter matchups, and utilize a mix of man and zone defense.

I don’t expect the Heat to hit from outside like they did Wednesday and we’ll get solid defensive efforts from both sides. Game models come in below the current total, with our projections at 240 points.

Heat vs Cavaliers same-game parlay

James Harden finished with seven assists in Wednesday’s matchup with Miami and Cleveland could struggle to finish plays again tonight. Harden has recorded nine or more assists in only three of his dozen games this month.

Pelle Larsson gave the Heat a boost off the bench in the last win. He scored 14 points with half of those points coming from the free-throw line (7 for 7). Getting to the line could be tough if Allen is back. Projections see him shy of double figures tonight.

Heat vs Cavaliers SGP

  • Under 242.5
  • James Harden Under 8.5 assists
  • Pelle Larsson Under 10.5 points

With a dash of playoff-like intensity, this is a closely contested game anchored in defense. That means a surplus of misses, leaving rebounds ripe for the picking. Some projections have Bam Adebayo and Evan Mobley forecasted for double-digits boards.

Heat vs Cavaliers SGP

  • Heat +5.5
  • Under 242.5
  • Bam Adebayo Over 10.5 rebounds
  • Evan Mobley Over 9.5 rebounds

Heat vs Cavaliers odds

  • Spread: Heat +5.5 | Cavaliers -5.5
  • Moneyline: Heat +175 | Cavaliers -210
  • Over/Under: Over 242.5 | Under 242.5
