Anthony Edwards took just 13 shots in Game 1. Expect that to change in Game 2, with a handful of those added attempts coming from beyond the arc.

Anthony Edwards took only 13 shots in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. When realizing that during postgame interviews, his reaction led to a $50,000 fine.

Any Timberwolves vs. Thunder predictions or Anthony Edwards props should expect more volume from the young superstar tonight with tip set for 8:30 ET.

Anthony Edwards best bet

Anthony Edwards 5+ threes (+240 at bet365)

Forcing 3-pointers is the entire design of this Oklahoma City Thunder defense. Data says the shots are open, but with the Thunder’s length, that is not as clear-cut a definition as usual. Regardless, Oklahoma City sells out to prevent drives or shots at the rim, and then it closes out with abandon to at least worry 3-point shooters.

Anthony Edwards struggled to drive on Tuesday, doing so only seven times, compared to the 13 he had averaged per game in these playoffs beforehand. No matter what adjustments the Minnesota Timberwolves may make heading into Game 2, those lanes are not about to open up. Again, this is the entire design of Oklahoma City’s defense.

Edwards needs to change that design with his shooting.

He went 3-for-8 from deep in Game 1. If he's going to add shots to his 13 field goal attempts, but the lane is cut off, Edwards should take a dozen threes. That would not be outlandish. He's attempted at least 10 in five of 11 postseason games, while shooting 38.4% from deep these playoffs. After shooting 39.5% this regular season, Edwards should be expected to keep hitting his threes, even against a defense with the length and aggression of the Thunder.

As soon as Edwards reaches double digits in 3-point attempts, the possibility of him making five becomes very real. It is, admittedly, an aggressive bet, but taking Over 3.5 threes at +110 is turning down too much value when one more made three would equal a +240 payout.

Anthony Edwards same-game parlay

Anthony Edwards 5+ threes

Anthony Edwards Over 6.5 rebounds

Anthony Edwards Over 0.5 blocks

Typically, rebounding is seen as an OKC weakness. The Thunder acquired Isaiah Hartenstein to try to solve that, but they still ranked No. 19 in rebounding percentage this season while the Timberwolves ranked No. 10.

That made it all the more flummoxing that Oklahoma City won the rebounding battle by four on Tuesday. Edwards did his part for Minnesota, tracking down nine boards.

It has been an emphasis of his all postseason, clearing this prop in eight of 11 games while averaging 8.1 rebounds. It should be a strength against the Thunder.

As for including the block prop, it boosts this same-game parlay from +375, an absurd 46.7% bump for a prop priced at -175 on its own. Edwards has at least one block in five of his last six games and seven of 11 this postseason, including one in Game 1.

He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
