A trip to the ALCS is on the line tonight as the Detroit Tigers host the Seattle Mariners in a winner-take-all Game 5.
It’ll be strength vs. strength in Game 5 as Tigers ace Tarik Skubal goes head-to-head with Mariners slugger Cal Raleigh.
I’ll deliver Tigers vs. Mariners props for both players in my Tigers vs. Mariners predictions for Friday, October 10.

Tigers vs Mariners player prop picks
Prop #1: Cal Raleigh Over 0.5 hits
Cal Raleigh made a strong case for the AL MVP this season, and he’s backed that claim up through the first four games of the ALDS with a ridiculous .438 batting average and a 1.188 OPS — both Top 5 numbers among all players this postseason.
I get that Tarik Skubal, the likely AL Cy Young winner, is set to take the mound for the Detroit Tigers in Game 5, but we’re getting a ridiculously good price for Raleigh to just record one hit tonight.
The Seattle Mariners star has notched at least one hit in every game of the ALDS, including three in Game 1 and two in Game 3.
The switch-hitting Raleigh was significantly better against southpaws this year too, so he’ll enjoy the platoon advantage against Skubal. Raleigh batted .281 with a .1032 OPS vs. lefties and just .231/.909 vs. righties.
Prop #2: Tarik Skubal Over 8.5 strikeouts
The Tigers’ season is on the line tonight, and there’s no better time to hand the ball to their ace.
The reigning AL Cy Young winner has been superb through his first two starts of the postseason with a minuscule 1.84 ERA and 0.82 WHIP over 14 2/3 innings. But his strikeout numbers are even more impressive.
It’s obviously a small sample size, but with 23 Ks in 14 2/3 innings of work, Skubal has recorded 14.11 K/9 this postseason — way up from his regular season mark of 11.10.
Skubal has Over 8.5 strikeouts in both of his starts this postseason and has hit this prop in three of his last four games overall.
The Mariners averaged 8.94 Ks per game this season, the sixth-highest rate in the MLB, so Skubal should get tons of swings-and-misses.
Prop #3: Javier Baez Over 0.5 hits
With a 2016 World Series under his belt, Javier Baez has plenty of postseason experience, and that’s been at the forefront of the Tigers’ playoff run so far.
The Tigers shortstop came up big in a must-win Game 4 with two hits, a home run, and four RBI to improve on what’s already been an excellent postseason.
Baez is batting .346 with a team-high nine hits in seven playoff games — only Aaron Judge (13) has more hits this postseason.
The three-time All-Star has recorded at least one hit in six of seven outings, and we’re getting a good price for Baez to record just one more knock in Game 5.
