It’s Dylan Cease day in Toronto, and you know what that means — I’m riding with him as part of my Red Sox vs. Blue Jays predictions.
The Toronto Blue Jays host the Boston Red Sox for Game 2 of their four-game series as they look to close ground on the last Wild Card spot in the American League. They’re large -140 favorites at BET99 to do just that, and I see no reason to fade them tonight.
Let’s dive into my MLB picks for Tuesday, Aug. 11, and win another best bet, shall we?
Red Sox vs Blue Jays predictions
Red Sox vs Blue Jays best bet: Blue Jays moneyline (-140)
There’s no harm in sprinkling on the run line here at -1.5 (+145 at BET99), but my biggest play will be to keep it safe on the moneyline.
Dylan Cease comes into his start with an extended history of dominance against these Boston Red Sox, striking them out at a 29% clip across 104 plate appearances. This includes limiting the Boston three-four hitters, Wilyer Abreu and Willson Contreras, to a combined 6-for-28 mark with an expected batting average of .176 or lower.
With an outstanding 31% whiff rate against this lineup (his overall 34% rate is the second-best in baseball), and with Cease allowing just one earned run across his last 23 innings pitched, expect much of the same from the Cy Young odds candidate tonight.
Patrick Sandoval goes for Boston, and although he’s pitched well against the Toronto Blue Jays in his career, his low 14% K-rate suggests balls will be in play tonight, and we’ll see some traffic on the base paths.

Red Sox vs Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)
While the Blue Jays should win this one on the back of Cease, who’s battling for the AL Cy Young, runs will surely still be hard to come by.
Sandoval’s strikeout numbers against the Jays aren’t strong, but the Toronto bats have still historically struggled against the big left-hander. Over 55 at-bats, the Blue Jays own just a .255 xBA, which includes a 1-for-12 mark from George Springer.
This should set us up well for the Under to hit.
Elsewhere, Cease’s 36% overall K-rate, which is a result of double-digit strikeouts in two of his last three starts, should see him cruise over seven punchouts tonight.
Red Sox vs Blue Jays SGP
- Blue Jays moneyline
- Under 7
- Dylan Cease Over 7.5 strikeouts

Red Sox vs Blue Jays home run pick: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+600)
Another game, another day of me betting on Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to hit his first home run at home.
With six at-bats under his belt against Sandoval, Vladdy is 3-for-6 with an xSLG of .423.
Sandoval’s hard-hit rate sits 35.6% on the season, which is the third-highest of his career. That means a wager on Guerrero to take the monkey off his back is a fine one.
