Thanks to a doubleheader, the bases are juiced with MLB action. There are 16 games on the schedule, and there is a ton of value to be found in the MLB player props.
My favorites for Tuesday, May 6, include a couple of star sluggers to drive in some runs.
Best MLB player props today
-
Seager o1.5 TB (+110)
-
Tucker o0.5 RBI (+170)
-
Guerrero o0.5 RBI (+180)
MLB props for May 6
Corey Seager Over 1.5 total bases (+110 at bet365)
The Texas Rangers' hitting black hole has been something to behold. I’m not sure many expected it to be this bad, and it claimed the job of their offensive coordinator recently.
But someone you can’t blame is five-time All-Star Corey Seager. The Rangers shortstop got off to a slow start this season, but his timing at the plate has returned over the last few weeks.
Seager is hitting .381 with a .922 OPS with three extra-base hits over his last 11 games, and I like him to continue to be the bright spot of this Rangers lineup heading into tonight’s game at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox.
The Red Sox hand the ball to Lucas Giolito, who makes just his second start of the year. The first had plenty of highs and lows, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking two over six inning against the Toronto Blue Jays, with two of those hits leaving the ballpark.
Not only is Giolito still knocking off some rust after missing all of last season and the first month of 2025, but Seager has also had some success against him in the past.
Seager is 3-for-10 with a double and a home run in his career vs. Giolito. That’s good for a .302 xBA and a .740 xSLG.
Seager has a total bases prop of 1.5 at solid plus money. He’s gone Over that six times in this 11-game stretch. My MLB picks like him to do it again tonight.
Kyle Tucker Over 0.5 RBI (+170 at bet365)
The Chicago Cubs continued to do what they do in their series opener against the San Francisco Giants, and that’s score runs in a 9-2 win.
The only thing that was a little surprising was that Kyle Tucker didn’t drive in any of those runs. No worries, though. I like his chances to get an RBI tonight when he digs in against future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander.
Acquiring Tucker feels like what has unlocked this Cubbies lineup that leads the majors in runs scored by a fairly wide margin to this point. The three-time All-Star is the veteran anchor in the middle of the lineup that this team needed. Tucker enters this game with a .284 batting average and a .953 OPS while hitting nine home runs and 30 RBIs.
I like this matchup for him against his former teammate. Verlander has been solid if unspectacular in his first season with the Giants, pitching to a 3.71 expected ERA while giving up a .241 expected batting average to opponents.
Now, Verlander has good numbers over his last three games, but those came against the Los Angeles Angels, Texas Rangers, and Colorado Rockies, three of the worst-hitting teams in baseball.
The Cubs, on the other hand, lead the majors in batting average, and are third in OPS and wRC+. Tucker’s respective numbers against right-handers bump up to .292 and .957, and he should get opportunities to drive in runners tonight.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI (+180 at bet365)
It’s quite apparent by now the Toronto Blue Jays need their bats to get going. Because right now it looks like just a few guys at the top of the lineup are hitting, namely Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, and George Springer.
But whether or not someone else steps up, it looks like Vladdy is ready to break out in a big way, and we could see signs of that tonight when he digs in against Tyler Anderson and the Los Angeles Angels.
It’s not like Vladdy has been bad. He’s hitting .273 with a .772 OPS so far this season. But the four home runs leave Jays fans wanting more.
Luckily, Guerrero’s advanced numbers say more productive days are on the horizon. Vladdy enters this game ranked in the 89th percentile or better in xBA, average exit velocity, barrel rate, hard-hit rate, and bat speed.
That should play well against Anderson, and it has in the past. The veteran left-hander as pitched well this season, but he pitches to a lot of contact. A lot of fly-ball contact, to be precise.
Anderson strikes out just 19.7% of batters, ranks in the 35th percentile in barrel rate, and the eighth percentile in ground ball rate. So a guy like Vladdy with easy power can be a problem.
Speaking of that, Vladdy is also 6-for-11 with two doubles in his career vs. the Angels’ southpaw, good for a .352 xBA and a .436 xSLG. He’s also still hitting behind Bichette, who has been getting on base a lot this season.
Give me Vladdy to drive in a run tonight, at a price too good to pass up.
