Every team is in action tonight with 15 games on the slate. Two specific matchups stand out as the Houston Astros face the New York Yankees, while the Toronto Blue Jays clash with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
I’ll highlight my top MLB player props below, with Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette leading the way on Friday, August 8.

Our 3 best MLB player props for Friday, August 8
Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.
Nick Pivetta Under 1.5 earned runs (+125 at Bet99)
Nick Pivetta has emerged as the San Diego Padres ace this season, going 11-3 in 22 starts with a 2.73 ERA. The consistent Canadian has struck out 136 in 128 1/3 innings of work while walking only 32.
He’s cashed the Under in earned runs allowed in six of his last seven appearances. Last time out, Pivetta gave up just one earned run across seven innings against the St. Louis Cardinals. Tonight, he’ll face his former team, the Boston Red Sox, but it will be a first for most of the players in this lineup.
Trevor Story and Alex Bregman are a combined 5-for-12 off Pivetta, but I believe he’ll continue to shove, and there’s always extra motivation when you pitch against a ball club you used to play for. Plus, his ERA is a sterling 1.99 at Petco Park.
I’m expecting a gem from Pivetta.

Manny Machado Over 1.5 total bases (+120 at bet365)
We’ll stick with the Padres with my second pick. Manny Machado has been swinging it with authority all year, batting .300 with 20 home runs. He’s hitting .284 at home and will love tonight’s matchup vs. the struggling Walker Buehler.
Machado is very familiar with the former Dodgers right-hander, going 10-for-31 with a pair of doubles. He’s also cashed the Over in total bases in two of his previous three games.
Machado has raked against righties this season, batting .317. My MLB picks expect him to do damage versus Buehler tonight.

Bo Bichette anytime home run (+450 at bet365)
Like the rest of the Toronto Blue Jays lineup, Bo Bichette is red-hot at the moment. Bichette could do no wrong in Colorado, going 7-for-17 with three home runs in a series that saw Toronto plate 45 runs.
Bichette had a two-homer game in the series opener and then also left the yard in the finale. The ball flies in Denver, but he was truly in the zone. Now, Toronto faces the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers at Chavez Ravine, and Bichette has all the fuel to keep it rolling.
While the sample size is small against Dodgers veteran Clayton Kershaw, Bichette is 2-for-3 with both hits leaving the yard.
Six of his round-trippers in 2025 are off left-handed hurlers, and all six homers surrendered by Kershaw have come off right-handed bats.
