The Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers meet at Dodger Stadium for Game 2 of their three-game set.

With Cristopher Sanchez taking the mound against Shohei Ohtani, my Phillies vs. Dodgers predictions points to value on the Under.

Let’s break it all down with my MLB picks for Tuesday, September 16.

Phillies vs Dodgers prediction

Phillies vs Dodgers best bet: Under 7.5 (-115)

Tonight's pitcher's duel is between two bona fide stars who suppress scoring at elite levels.

Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez is 13-5 with a 2.57 ERA and 1.11 WHIP through 29 starts this season and will likely finish as the runner-up to Paul Skenes in the National League Cy Young Award race.

Unsurprisingly, his underlying metrics are equally dominant. Entering this matchup, Sanchez ranks in the 85th percentile or higher in expected ERA (xERA), walk rate, and barrel rate.

While he faces a difficult task against this powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers lineup, Sanchez has proven he can handle it, going 2-0 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.08 WHIP through three starts against them.

The good news for Los Angeles is that right-hander Shohei Ohtani takes the mound. Ohtani has started to ramp up his workload ahead of the playoffs, having pitched four or more innings in four of his past five starts.

Remarkably, Ohtani is as dominant a pitcher as he is a hitter. In fact, he carries an even lower xERA than Skenes and Sanchez.

Phillies vs Dodgers same-game parlay (SGP)

Ohtani has also thrived at generating swings and misses and, if he officially qualified, would rank near the top of the league in both whiff and strikeout rates.

Meanwhile, Sanchez ranks in the top quarter of the league in both categories and has recorded six or more strikeouts in nine of his past 12 outings.
