The Major League Baseball season is a marathon not a sprint and half the battle is getting hot at the right time — just ask the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers backed into the playoffs losing four of their final six regular season games before flipping the switch and sweeping the Rays in the Wild Card round, outscoring them 11-1.

They then went to Baltimore and continued to mash, winning both games and putting up 14 runs in the process. They now return home with two cracks at ending the series and advancing to the ALCS. MLB odds like their chances as they are -1,110 to win the series and given their penchant to score runs in bunches, you would be silly to bet against them.

Can the Orioles find a way to stave off elimination tonight? Find out in my MLB playoff predictions and free MLB picks for Orioles vs. Rangers below.

Orioles vs Rangers predictions

After winning 101 games during the regular season, the Baltimore Orioles find themselves in a must-win situation tonight to stave off elimination at the hands of the Texas Rangers.

They'll give the ball to Dean Kremer in hopes he can continue his solid pitching ways. Kremer has been one of the Orioles most consistent pitchers this season and since the All-Star break, he's given up more than three earned runs just twice in 14 starts.

He'll have his hands full with the free-swinging Rangers who come into this game full of confidence and peaking at the right time. Kremer has limited history facing off against the Rangers, but he did give up three runs over 6 1/3 innings on May 27 in Baltimore.

The Rangers will counter with Nathan Eovaldi and he's been nothing short of stellar this season. He finished the regular season with a 3.63 ERA and was able to deliver the goods vs. the Rays in Game 2 of the Wild Card round. In that game, Evoldi tossed 6 2/3 innings of six-hit, one-run baseball while striking out eight and walking none.

If he can continue that form, with the way the Rangers are swinging the bats, the Rangers should have no issues getting the job done in front of the Arlington faithful and advancing to the American League Championship Series.

My best bet: Rangers moneyline (-135 at bet365)

Orioles vs Rangers same-game parlay

Rangers moneyline

Eovaldi Over 14.5 outs

Rangers team total Over 4.5 runs

We are all systems go on the Texas Rangers tonight and for good reason. We start our same game parlay the way we always do; with our best bet and we build around it in a way that correlates nicely.

If the Rangers can get the job done like we expect them to, then Eovaldi is going to be dealing and pitching deep into this game. He's pitched at least five innings in three of his last four starts and with the way the Orioles are swinging the bats, I expect Eovaldi to be dealing here tonight.

To wrap up our three-leg SGP, we'll back the hard-hitting Rangers lineup to nab at least five runs at home. They averaged 5.4 runs per game in the regular season and 9.1 hits (both Top 3) and through four playoff games, they are averaging 6.25. I understand Kremer has only given up more than three runs in two of his last 14 starts, but the Rangers are a different beast right now and they are not missing anything at the plate.

Orioles vs Rangers moneyline and Over/Under analysis

From a side perspective, I am already siding with the Texas Rangers to get the win and sweep the series, but at -135, I believe this price is generous. The line opened at -131 and has been bet up, but if you look at the demeanor of these two teams through the first two games of the series, it's clear to me that the Texas Rangers want it more and that the time off affected the Orioles lineup in a major way.

As for the total, If I had to play I'd take the over. We've seen the Rangers mash the ball through four games of this postseason and if on the off chance, Eovaldi has an off night, the Orioles could do their part in pushing this game total over the posted total of 9 runs.

If you shop around, there are 8.5's available to be had.
