The Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants continue a three-game set tonight in the Bay Area at Oracle Park.

Cubs vs Giants prediction
Cubs vs Giants best bet: Cubs moneyline (-130)
Although the Chicago Cubs are just 1-3 against the San Francisco Giants this season, I’m backing them to respond this evening.
Colin Rea continues to pitch well, allowing two runs or fewer in every single start in August. Chicago has managed to win three of those games when Rea was on the mound.
The Cubbies are still hot, despite Tuesday’s loss. They just swept the Los Angeles Angels, and prior to that, took three of four from the Milwaukee Brewers, who they continue to chase in the NL Central.
Chicago is winning a lot of ball games, and they will also face a rather inexperienced arm tonight.
The Giants send Carson Whisenhunt to the bump, and he has a 4.91 ERA across four outings in 2025. He’s been substantially worse at home, however, with Whisenhunt’s ERA rising to 7.00. Batters are hitting .270 against him at Oracle Park.
This is a prime opportunity for the Cubs to snatch a victory. Rea will keep the Giants at bay, and his lineup will produce some runs.
Cubs vs Giants same-game parlay (SGP)
Matt Chapman has had a lot of success against Rea in a small sample size — he’s 3-for-5 lifetime with a double and a home run. While both of his hits across the last two games were for extra bases, he did cash the Over in singles in three of six games before that.
Rea isn’t an elite strikeout pitcher, as he only has 93 Ks in 127 1/3 innings of work this year. But, Rea’s total is low tonight, sitting at just 3.5, and he’s cashed the Over in strikeouts in three of his last four appearances.
