The Milwaukee Brewers visit the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park for the second matchup of their four-game set, and a pair of aces will toe the rubber Friday, May 23.

My Brewers vs. Pirates predictions and MLB picks for tonight's Game 2 are headlined by Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta and Pittsburgh star Paul Skenes.

My Brewers vs Pirates best bet: Freddy Peralta Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (-120 at DraftKings)

Milwaukee Brewers ace Freddy Peralta has quietly put together a sterling start to the season and lands in a favorable matchup with the Pittsburgh Pirates, packing minimal punch at the plate against righties.

Peralta has averaged 16.7 outs across his 10 starts with a solid 2.59 RA, 1.06 WHIP, and 4.05 xFIP. The veteran righty has also held opposing hitters to a minuscule 6.8 barrel percentage and 33.3% hard-hit rate.

There is likely to be some negative regression moving forward, with Peralta’s xFIP notably higher than his ERA. Still, his excellent track record includes posting a 3.77 ERA and 3.68 xFIP across 339 1/3 innings the past two years, so the potentially looming statistical correction won’t be crippling.

Of course, a real draw here is also the Pittsburgh offense, ranking 29th in wOBA and 30th in ISO against right-handed arms.

Look for Peralta to cruise through the Pirates at PNC Park tonight.

Brewers vs Pirates same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 7

Freddy Peralta Over 16.5 outs recorded

Paul Skenes 6+ strikeouts

Both Milwaukee and Pittsburgh have trended to the Under, and the Brewers have also struggled against right-handed pitchers with a 25th-ranked wOBA and 24th-ranked ISO.

As a result, I like Pirates ace Paul Skenes to deal and rack up strikeouts.

He’s recorded six or more punchouts in eight of 10 starts this season, and his 30.6 K% and 10.7 K/9 are both Top 10 marks among starters with at least 150 innings the past two years. His 2.12 ERA paces the majors, too.
