The Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds will make history tonight, facing off at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee.

My Braves vs. Reds predictions break down how the dimensions of the park and some recent concerns for both arms should combine to create a slugfest in front of a record crowd.

Braves vs Reds prediction

My Braves vs Reds best bet: Over 8 (-110 at Caesars)

This will be a very unique and fun game, both from a viewing and betting perspective. The league’s building a makeshift stadium inside a racetrack, and that means we’ve got a park in play that we’ve never had the pleasure of handicapping before.

From what we can gather, the field will be pointing south with the wind blowing roughly south to southeast. In what’s a very open-air construct, the ball may be flying out towards left field  and the dimensions aren’t exactly crazy large, with the wall 330 feet down the left field line.

As it pertains to the pitching matchup, this could be a factor. Both Spencer Strider and Chase Burns love to pitch to fly balls, and each profile as high-strikeout, high-walk arms who will offer up plenty of balls in the air.

Over the last two weeks, neither team has done a great job of hitting for power, but the Cincinnati Reds' .094 Isolated Power is a particularly poor mark as it ranks last in baseball. The good news is that the Reds are only striking out in 19.9% of plate appearances, walking in 10.3%, so their odds of finding some life with a rally are strong.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves sport an even better 13.1% walk rate over that time a number you rarely see that high over a 13-game sample and their plate discipline should be able to get to Burns and his highly volatile profile.

Even if neither lineup can string together consistent hits against Strider or Burns, you can bank on each guy putting runners on base via the walk, which will make big flies hurt even more.

Braves vs Reds same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 8

Chase Burns Over 1.5 walks allowed

TJ Friedl 2+ total bases

Burns has walked 9.5% of the batters he’s faced and has issued two or more in all but two of his starts. Expect similar results tonight, particularly with the confines of the park feeling rather foreign.

I also love TJ Friedl here, who’s hitting .288 against power pitchers like Strider and has gone 2-for-3 against him in his career. The Reds outfielder is also riding a four-game hitting streak, where he’s picked up five hits in all, including two for extra bases.
