We’ve got a busy betting slate around Major League Baseball tonight, including the series finale between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals.

Bo Bichette has had immense success against Royals starter Michael Wacha, and my Blue Jays predictions expect that trend to continue tonight.

Here are my free MLB picks for Friday, August 1.

Blue Jays predictions for August 1

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Bichette Stays Hot

Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases (-118 at BetVictor)

One bat I like tonight is Bo Bichette’s. The Toronto Blue Jays' shortstop is 5-for-13 with a 1.053 slugging percentage against Kansas City Royals starter Michael Wacha

His batted ball profile matches up well to Wacha’s as well, considering Bichette is in the 98th percentile in xBA, while Wacha gives up a lot of contact with a .259 xBA against. The veteran right-hander also has an xERA north of 4.00 entering tonight.

Wacha has a multi-pitch arsenal, but he uses his fastball and change-up combo most often. Bichette is slugging .619 against the changeup and has a .308 xBA against the four-seamer, so he should be able to find success again tonight.

Bichette has also been swinging a hot bat, posting hits in 12 of 13 games. The star shortstop is sporting a .918 OPS during that stretch, totalling an average of 2.38 bases per game.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases

Joey Loperfido Over 1.5 total bases

Kevin Gausman Under 2.5 earned runs

I’ll continue to back the Blue Jays’ offense and take a lefty bat to have continued success.

Joey Loperfido is hitting .389 since the All-Star break with a .991 OPS, and all four of his extra-base hits have come against right-handed pitching.

Meanwhile, Kevin Gausman has been shoving lately, surrendering just one run over his last two starts. Kansas City also has the 3rd-worst wRC+ in the majors, registering a .184 batting average against the splitter.
