Athletics vs Nationals Prediction, Picks & Odds — Thursday, August 7

Nationals SP Mitchell Parker has not kept runs off the board of late, which bodes poorly against A's power bats like Shea Langeliers, who thrive against LHP.

After two wildly different outcomes in their previous two games, the Athletics and Washington Nationals play the rubber match of their 3-game set this afternoon.

Our A’s vs Nationals predictions and MLB picks think the visitors have the pitching advantage and will ride that to victory at Nationals Park on Thursday, August 7.

Athletics vs Nationals prediction

Athletics vs Nationals best bet: A's -1.5 (+125 at bet365)

After getting dusted 16-7 in the opener, the Washington Nationals evened up the series with a 2-1 win on Wednesday, snapping a six-game losing slide where they lost by at least three runs in each.

The Nats have actually dominated this head-to-head, though, winning seven of the last 10. However, it’s hard to back them with lefty Mitchell Parker on the mound today.

After posting an inflated 6.04 ERA in four July starts, Parker was lit on fire by the Milwaukee Brewers to kick off August, giving up 12 hits and eight earned runs in four innings in a 16-9 demolition.

He faces off against fellow lefty Jacob Lopez, who has been much smoother of late, not surrendering an earned run in each of his last two starts.

The Athletics southpaw scattered five hits over five scoreless innings last time out, picking up a 5-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Washington is already the eighth-lowest scoring team at home this season, and the A’s, at 27-32, are tied for the third most road wins in the American League.

This has the makings of another blowout loss for the home team.

Athletics vs Nationals same-game parlay (SGP)

A's -1.5

Shea Langeliers Over 1.5 hits

Gio Urshela Over 0.5 hits

Shea Langeliers has hits in 16 of his last 18 games, with nine multi-hit affairs. I like him staying hot against a struggling pitcher, especially since he's hitting .415 with five home runs in 65 at-bats vs. lefties this season.

Gio Urshela has four hits in this series, and the A’s third baseman is the only hitter in their lineup to have faced Parker previously, going 2-for-2.

We’ll take him to pick up a hit to round out this 3-legged SGP.
