Key Takeaways
- Games Global has announced that it has expanded into Alberta’s regulated market.
- The supplier received a license from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis.
- Popular franchises like Gold Blitz, 12 Masks of Fire, and Fishin’ Pots of Gold will go live in the province.
Alberta is Canada’s second regulated market, following Ontario, and went live on July 13 with 50 licensed operators. Games Global said it had received a supplier's license from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), allowing it to launch its gaming portfolio with operators in the province.
Games Global slot franchises Gold Blitz, 12 Masks of Fire, and Fishin’ Pots of Gold are examples of just some of the games being made available to Alberta players. The company added that its premium table games, already developed and distributed across the country through its live casino partner OnAir Entertainment, will also be live in the province.
According to Games Global, its expansion into Alberta follows a successful operation in Ontario and supports a broader North American expansion plan, through which the online casino supplier has already entered multiple operator partnerships in U.S.-regulated markets.
“The opening of Alberta’s iGaming market is an exciting opportunity for Games Global. We have already established a strong presence in Ontario, where our content has proven resonant with players, and we are confident Alberta will build on this momentum,” said Mark MacCombie, Chief Commercial Officer at Games Global.
“North America remains a key strategic focus for us, and we will continue to work closely with both our valued operator partners and our exclusive studios to deliver exceptional gaming experiences to players across the continent’s regulated markets.”

Alberta sees over 100,000 signups in first week
As more suppliers and operators enter Alberta’s market, the first week of the province’s regulated launch offers a snapshot of how popular Canada’s second regulated market is proving to be.
According to data supplied by Vancouver-based geolocation and data compliance group GeoComply, it recorded over 3.2 million geolocation checks and more than 100,000 Albertans signing up for GeoComply partner platforms.
In the first 72 hours after launch, GeoComply also reported peak gaming activity in the Edmonton and Calgary regions, with the highest spikes occurring during World Cup matches. During the Spain vs. Argentina final on July 19, the company reported 53,000 geolocation checks.
The launch also marked the first live deployment of its Adaptive Verification system for browsers, which enables the company to perform more thorough geolocation checks when higher-risk activity is detected.
“As a Canadian company, this one’s close to home,” said Anna Sainsbury, Chair and Co-founder, GeoComply.
“Albertans were eager to expand their choices of safe, regulated ways to play, and the final matches of the World Cup gave us an immediate look at the market in action. More than 100,000 Albertans across the province signed up through GeoComply-enabled platforms and engaged with licensed operators right out of the gate. We’re proud that our Canadian team gets to help operators do it right in Alberta.”
