Here were my picks:
BKN -6.5
ATL(pick)
LAL+5
BKN because i think they will be riding their high from OKC. Plus their new stress on defense will make WAS suffer more from their poor offense. And from your method, the line moved in favor of BKN, especially with my bookie.
ATL because they wont miss this chance to climb up the conference especially to a team in the same one. And from first game last december, ATL should be able to adjust with the second line of DET.
and well line moved again in favor of ATL.
LAL because i followed you haha. Also, line moved, at least for my bookie.

Melo like your lean with the Memp/Port game.
Mavin/Melo just would like your take when handicapping a game like Memp/Port. How do you feel when a team (Memp) has one home game sandwiched between away trips. Memp returning from 2 game trip, plays one game at home then out west for 3 more. Does it matter or just another home game?
Great thread- have learned so much. Mavin reading your game recap the other night was like a master's degree course in sports handicapping. Thanks to all.

MIN/DEN U 
1-0 in thread, 1-0 last night.
Tonight's play for me is short and sweet. Simple and to the point. Phoenix gets it done in the desert tonight. Personally I am laying a few units on this play (one of my bigger plays of the year) but to stick with the theme of this thread, I wouldn't advise laying too much on one play.
First off, the home team has fared very well in this series over the past couple seasons. Home team has won the last 3 meetings and 5 of the last 6. Phoenix is enjoying a small home stand after being on the road for 3 consecutive games. Phoenix has only won 1 of their last 7, but it was at home, at it was the last game they played. They missed Goran Dragic when he was out a couple games and he seems to be back in the swing of things. Utah just blew out Minnesota and are probably feeling good about themselves. This coincides with them going on the road where they are 6-13 overall. Also they travel to Denver to play in a tough one tomorrow while Phoenix gets a day off and gets to rest at home against the Grizz. I really think this line should mirror the line against the 76ers (more like a 3-5 point spread). I see value in this play. Now, its hammer time.

I have been tailing Mavin's bets since the creation of this thread back on December 20. In most cases, his analysis made perfect sense and I felt no reason to hesitate backing him.
However, I must admit that the Wsh-Bkn Over is kind of head-scratcher to me. This is a confrontation between the two slowest-paced teams in the NBA. Over its last seven games, Washington has played in games with combined scores of 168, 183, 171, 164 and 170. Despite their ugly record, the Wizards are still 10th in terms of overall defence. I just feel that it could be a real struggle for both teams to reach low 90s.
Mavin, please help me understand the logic behind this wager. It has a a little puzzled TBH.

OK, so first of all about the money management: I was asked here what should be the Unit size for 1500$ bankroll and the answer was 75$. The next question was - is not that too much? The answer is - NO. Next person feeling like asking that question - please read through the thread. There is a reason for keeping this single thread. That is in order to FORCE you to read through to find answers for your questions as almost all the subjects about the money management, picking criteria etc have already been addresses. So, if I put an effort in writing them and the very well respected people in this thread put an effort discussing those issues - the least the new visitors to this thread can do is make an effort to read it. Otherwise you will never become an independent and self confident sports handicappers and you would remain simply a gamblers. I know that's a lot to read. Take it easy, slowly, nor me or Vegas is not running anywhere soon.

The way I see it, the Lakers showed their true colors their last game vs. Philadelphia. All their players were finally back, and they were at home, vs. an inferior opponent (supposedly). Meanwhile, the Clippers have hit the skids, losing two in a row after winning 17 straight. It was not hard to see these losses coming however, as the Clippers had not shown to be great on the the road against good home teams. In fact, between the two of us, we called them both
so I can truly say that their losses were not unpredictable. They were on the road in tough places to play against good opponents who were highly motivated, while for the Clippers they knew they had bigger fish to fry down the road, and they knew they were not going undefeated the rest of the regular season.Which brings us to tonight's game. The Clippers have had this game circled on their calendar for a while. In fact, one small factor in the reason why I picked the Nuggets to beat the Clippers the other night was the look-ahead factor. In an 82-game schedule, as we all see on a nightly basis, there is no way teams can get up for every game. Lou Holtz says that "the game before a big game and the game after a big game, you are not going to get the best out of your team." It's just human nature, and we saw it with the Nuggets last night. Teams put more emphasis on the games that they will get more credit for winning. When it comes to assessing the level of motivation a team has going into a game, I think this is a very important factor to look at.
Tonight is a game where the Clippers want to show everyone who the best team in L.A. is, for those who don't already know.
The line is so low because 1) bettors are down on the Clippers because of the last two games (which were totally different situations), and 2) the Lakers lines almost always give the Lakers too much credit, due mostly to them being so popular, and the perception that they are still close to as good a team as they were two to three years ago.
The Lakers might well have had this one circled for a while as well, but it doesn't matter. As long as you can count on the Clippers coming out motivated, they are going to win a very high percentage of the time on their home floor vs. inferior competition (i.e. tonight). I've been looking forward to this one for a while. Should be fun. Just wanted to share my thoughts. Good day.

Hi Marvin nice read on your posts- took a while to read them but worth it.
What's your take on todays Bowl game. I did ok yesterday picking Oregon but could not get myself to parlay the -7.5 to the under, but under live betting there was a nice line at 81 on which I took the under for $100 to match the spread bet at $100 also-
Today I am thinking that TAM is the play.
