Limits are too low and it would take too long to get paid at least with Bovada. All the last minute arrangements to fly to Vegas or if you're in on the East Coast that dump you guys call Atlantic City. Too much stress and BS for me not to mention the whole Tax issue on that losing Hedge bet trying to subtract that from your winnings with the IRS. Good luck with that. That will open up a Pandora's box of BS you never wish you would have opened. No sir not for me. I'm going "All-In" straight no chaser and no hedging. No complications logistically and down the road with the IRS. I'm just an OG man and that's how I roll. Respect!

I hear you..that's you..not me...was just my opinion..to each their own....there is ways around most or all of what you are talking about...But honesty I hope he wins tomorrow with Portland without any hedge....  I think about it this way...if Covers said hey we will give you 75K right now and that's it...and tell you to just make a pick and even if it wins you only get 75K...would you do it with no sweat? I know I would.. Why risk missing out on 50K more rather than let it ride for 25K when guaranteed 75K? Same as a hedge.

Like I said ... I wanna see Portland win and cover.

At the end of the day, winning that title could prove to be far more valuable than that 100k. Its a bonafide, legit, provable contest, it says, yes, I can and do pick winners. Hell, we would all be multimillionaires right now with a cheesy 10 dollar bet let ride for 25 wins. wrap your brains around that. $3,355,443.20 to be exact.

If you are free rolling for 75k you HAVE to hedge 10-15k at least.....Can't get nothing for getting to 24............Just my opinion......And I think it is a valid one......

So now you're a double loser to your investors and the IRS. All this because of a unnecessary Hedge bet. Let that reality sink in to all you Hedge betting promoters.

Wow..YOUR TAX RULES SUCK DOWN THERE!! I realize being in the States its never a good thing to win a chunk on your soil..Won a bunch in Las Vegas and being a Canadian they grabbed their portion RIGHT AWAY .Took a bunch of paperwork but got the cash back. I believe these are considered lottery winnings so I guess you will have to declare them on your taxes. As with up here lottery winnings are TAX FREE!!!

    G LUCK with ur pick!!

covers is, in fact, based in canada. since they can't possibly keep up with every country/state/municipality's tax rules, they send you the full amount of whatever you win and make it clear that you are responsible for figuring out your tax burden and paying whatever you owe your government.

that being said, i have no idea how this money is going to be classified in the eyes of the IRS, so whatever i end up winning, i'll have to give them a call and see what the damage is. i can't imagine it will be less than the 25% they charge for capital gains.

one of the big positives about researching basketball is that i don't ever have to look at the weather. if this game gets canceled due to weather, my heart may explode.

for brooklyn, they're without d williams and teletovic, and joe johnson revealed that he's been playing hurt for some time now, and his play has been very pedestrian this entire month. also, there are multiple recent examples of this team being mentally weak. first example, they lost a home game to the celtics a couple weeks ago, which is a team they should beat at home. teams in the right place mentally would have come out in the next game and blown the doors off philly, but they came out and lost another home game to the worst team in the league. next example is the last two games. they laid an egg two games ago against the clippers in LA, losing by 39. teams in the right place mentally come out pissed off with tons of energy after an embarrassing performance like that, but they followed it up two days later with a 35-point loss to a much weaker utah team. add to that the fact that they've been traveling after games continually since january 14th, and they will be doing so again after this one. just not sure they are talented enough right now with the injuries, and i'm also not sure they are in the right psychological frame of mind to be competitive in this game.

on the other side, i think the fact that aldridge was going to miss the rest of the season and then he's suddenly back and better than ever is like a shot in the arm for the blazers. i think that has galvanized the team and should get them back to playing the consistent basketball that we got so used to seeing them play earlier in the season. this is a look-ahead possibility for portland with games against cleveland and atlanta to follow, but i think they will get the right message from the coaching staff after the look-ahead loss to boston just a few nights past.

can't believe the streak has gotten to this point, or that i've been fortunate enough to be in this situation. win or lose, this has been the experience of a lifetime, and i thank everyone in the covers community that's offered support, well wishes, encouragement, etc. throughout. have a wonderful evening, and here's to hoping we can make it one more day.

PS probably going to listen to this song about 400 times tomorrow. one of my favorite artists. dedicating it to the basketball gods. may they smile upon me for just one more day.

Just guessing, but it might be like winning a prize on a game show. I am sure whoever can get a piece of that prize will go after it. But congrats on winning something.  It's like you said.  It didn't cost anything so just receiving anything is great.
