    Kreatture,

Glad to hear the gears are turning!  I'm wondering if one of the things you're working on involves MM for Criss-Cross Blitz.  Last night I was looking over my records from last year and was trying to come up with a different MM system for these plays rather than chasing.

Hopefully the new things you come up with will be more streamlined and not consume so much of your time....as always good luck and I'm anxiously awaiting your conclusions!

Thanks Oil, that is exactly what I'm trying to do.. have something which is much more laid out in front of me which doesn't require as much time, at the moment anyway.

I also always found that by tracking things in my spreadsheets made things much easier and also kept me focused and on track.. while I haven't been doing that here and as a result have drifted aimlessly. I haven't even had the time to finish the spreadsheet for this thread which I have tried to complete, but it's just not going to happen. I'm going to need some extra money for moving so maybe I'm better off cashing out down to 5K and starting again with some new ideas. I could really use a new laptop, too, as this 3 year

I'm not a Professional at this and never claimed to be.. no one in the forum here is, altho I'm sure many of us want to be. I've yet to see a thread in this forum where someone could make a living off what they're doing.. so it's all about trying new things and finding the style which works best for you.

Like I said at the beginning of this thread, I've never tried a style like this before. I've heard that it's the "proper" and "only" way to be successful at this. Frankly, I'm sick of it. When I have a 20K Bankroll (which is what I've always mentioned as needing for myself to be comfortable with to take the time off and make a go of this) then I can re-evaluate things at that point, even if it's a couple years from now.

In the meantime, continue learning (always learn, you'll never max out your learning potential in this business), try new things, and see what works and what doesn't.

Two years ago when I started this, I said I would prove a Modified Martingale would work.. and I did a good job of it except for the Money Management end of it. Maybe I need to take what I've learned the past 2 years and apply it to this style once again..

Shit, gotta go.. will finish this tonight.

    Cheers

I'm pretty much in the same boat.....still on the hunt for what works.  I use very small wagers and a small bankroll until it's worth while to "invest".  I'm not a good capper, can't pick games, don't have the time that's why I prefer systems, and essentially take the picking and personal "feeling" part out.

I would like to have  a large bankroll as well in order to give myself as much "insurance" as possible.  Like a 20K roll with a $2 unit value. I've often had to quit on things because I didn't have the cash in my bankroll to support certain plays.  Drives me insane. I just don't have or want to put too much money into this at this point.  Dollar bills are precious, can't just throw 'em away.

One thing that amazes me here at Covers is that there are so many individuals striving for the same goal "to beat the books" and a very few if any have achieved this consistantly.  You would think that if all the knowledge, ideas, brainstorming etc we could come up with something.

I continue to learn and enjoy this hobby, it would be great to make some extra cake on a consistant basis, but if one can't do it small time one can't do it big time!

I have faith that there is money to be made in this industry and I will continue to learn and strive for that goal.

I enjoy your posts Kreatture and respect you and what you do for this forum!

    K-man-

I'm still here every single day monitoring this thread along with a few others.  It's been tough some days to stay out of this thread as I have had many thoughts or comments I wanted to make.  Somewhere around 5 years ago, I learned that you might get more out of saying nothing sometimes, so I've considered myself a quiet observer (like many others).  I just thought I'd drop in and commend you on your growth you've gone through over the past couple months.  Go back and read pages 35-44 of this thread...you can see shades of your old self, where emotion drives everything, including the tone of your posts...but there's a turning point around page 40 or 41 where you seemed to start truly learning to disconnect your emotion from the thread and the gambling.  Most are lucky if they ever find a way to learn this skill.  You might be feeling like this last two months was draining, and maybe even not worth it, but I think the personal growth is what you should be most proud of here.  Ultimately, that's what will give you the tools you need to make a living doing something like this.  Money will come and money will go.  Take what you learned here, and move forward to the next chapter...whenever that starts.   As you suggested, you might want to consider backing off on betting or even posting until you have your life, and therefore your emotions in check.  I don't think you would have seen that 2 months ago.

Leprechaun  Always nice to see an old vet around here.

oilcountry, if you want to see a sure-fire (guaranteed) way to make money gambling, play the gold star edges (posted at this website) in a rotation every day using smart money management (add in silver edges as fillers). If you follow the gold, it will take the human error out of it as you will be making objective-based value plays. You WILL win money in the long run.

kreatture, if you don't believe there is only one way to make money doing this then you need to keep reading (and I don't want to sound condescending), I just think you underestimate the term 'grinding'. The grind isn't a week, a month, or even a year... it's much longer! If you truly believe in your capping methods then just keep going with it and eventually you will be on the right side of things. If you don't end up on the right side of things then you were simply wrong about your abilities, but the methodology stands alone and always will. Exposing and exploiting value using Kelly is the only way to win at this. Every piece of literature out there affirms that edges are the only way to go and that any other system is flawed.

P.s. It wasn't that long ago (I like to call them the "Glory Days") when you were raking in so much cash, I was jealous and secretly wishing you would lose. Now, I realize I would do anything for you to get back to those days so I could just swallow my pride and tail! Just keep GRINDING P, I know you're better than this.

the good old days of the systems & strategies forum seem long gone for a great many veterans. It was just a couple years ago you could jump in any thread and make some units.

Some are here still trying and having good/bad results. Mostly bad. Much respect to them for their ongoing courage .

Some have just given up. Much respect to them, takes alot to admit it's not for you and move on with your life.

Some have just gone underground and are still making money but conserving their edge. Sucks, but that is life in this cut throat business.

Unfortunately I think you have to become a member and pay $30/month.  Correct me if I'm wrong DJ.

For non-paying members, edges come up around noon (if not before). And a side note, DO NOT play the gold-star games offshore, you will lose your pants. That site is for PROLINE ONLY. They do have a page for each individual gaming corporation but you have to be in Canada to make the plays.

You're probably betting too much of your backroll. Honestly if you guy's aren't following SweetJones at this point you're failing. Best NBA capper around and he's just some dude who's smart. Totally free of course. Beyond that it's hard to find people with track records. You see guys like ManRam and KindegardenCapper have good streaks but you can't be sure whether it's just variance or not until at least a full season. The way I see it is, the less people I am tailing, the better. When I look at my bookmark folder and see 10 links and eight of them are random people with random experiments that are running hot, I know I'm in trouble. Anyways /ramble.

Been busy, just here for a second. We just set up a new service yesterday at work here so it's been a busy 48 hours, then I was out last night after work. I have plans the next 3 nights out as well so will not be around.

The break is good actually and comes at a good time. I'll be back Sunday.

I'll be back better than ever.

Everyone really just needs to chill out.. relax. It's not the end of the World.

    Cheers

Briefly, quickly, read some comments.. ya'll need to take a step back and examine your role.. quite humorous..

    KHL

    AK BARS  pk (-113)
    4%

I cleaned up on the Montreal/St.Louis Under 5.5 tonight, but couldn't post it here. I've had a general rule where ANY Road Game by Montreal with a total of 5.5 becomes an automatic Under.

Fuck I had an amazin nite out.. but gotta crash an get some sleep.

I really hope you guys are cashing in big time on the NCAA Conference Tournies.. the oddsmakers are so far of it's really disgusting. They just don't have a clue. Lines are being set and then swayed up to 5 points..

If you can cap, then you know u come up with our own line before u even look at the line set by the Book. Then if you get a 3+pt discrepancy you start keying in on your Value Plays. Well, in NCAA B-Ball, the lines are so out of whack right now you should find multiple games every day now. Lines are coming out and then being move up to 5 points!! Can you believe the Books are giving up that much value?? It's disgusting.

Damn I gotta get some Zzzzz.. gotta take advantage of these KHL plays where we can. Things settin up nicely.

    Good Nite!

DJ Destroyer - sorry for the "basic" questions.  Can you explain what you mean "don't play the games OFFSHORE"?  And how do you read the site / game box on that site.  Sorry, as was a bit confused trying to figure it out.

    Thanks.

That site simply compares Proline odds to Pinnacle odds and lets you know when there are any edges. By assuming that Pinnacle is sharper than Proline, these edges provide us with +EV situations and we should exploit them using Kelly. Join www.bigtip.ca if you have anymore questions as I don't want to clutter up kreatture's thread anymore than we already have. That forum is a bunch of like-minded members with lots of information and people willing to help you expose your provincial lottery corp.

Quick post -- For those dozen or so of you who follow me on Twitter, hope you enjoyed a nice afternoon with 2 big winners!! Easy winner with Kentucky -6.5 and an easy winner turned into a nail biter with Clemson +6. Both straight up plus in a 2-team teaser. SKA St. Petersburg was an easy winner in KHL this morning, which followed up a big parley winner last night of LA Kings/NJ Devils/Detroit Red Wings.

Couple of nice NCAA plays to finish the night.. only going to post the plays so you guys can get a nice winner, no point in posting a dollar amount since my bankroll is back over $9000 and I've stayed away from the forums here for a few days. Been a nice break. It doesn't matter what I end up with now since I had already decided I was going to cash out down to $5000 after the Conference Tournaments end tomorrow and use that going forward.

The first play tonight I'm playing much larger than the 2nd.

    Straight Play
UC SANTA BARBARA  +3.5 (Large play)

    BOISE ST.  +6.5 (Smaller Play)

    Teaser (4.5pt)
    UC SANTA BARBARA   +8
    BOISE ST. +11

Enjoy your night, don't forget to set your clocks ahead!

FYI, Habs went Under on the road again yesterday.  They are now 7-25 O/U on the road.  Your comment on it needing to be an automatic play was bang-on.  Next Friday at MSG, two strong goalies, should be another one in the books.Submit

Yup, the linesmakers don't pay as much attention to hockey as they do other sports but eventually they catch up.  Habs Under often has crazy juice, although if you are willing to take the risk and buy a half goal, it can get tasty.

I still maintain NJ has an outside shot at post season.  Under Lemaire they are playing amazing.
