Here I go again? Confused once more.
If the chase is one unit and the first game, Milwaukee, is a loser, wouldn't you need to bet 2 units today (and win) in order to gain a unit.
And suppose you don't win on Milwaukee today -- wouldn't you need to double the bet (4 units) on Saturday in order to go up?

Put it this way:
If you bet $120 to win a $100 unit on team A at -120 and lose, then for game two of the chase, you would bet to win whatever amount of money you lost in game 1 plus $100. If team A is at -110 for game two, you would bet whatever it would take to win a total of $220 - the $120 you lost in game 1 plus the $100 you with to make as a profit. In this case betting $242 at -110 odds would win you $220.
If you lost that bet, then your bet will be such that you want to win a total of $462 (the sum of the two previous bets, $120 and $242, plus the $100 you wish to net). If team A is even money in game three, you would bet $462 to win $462. If it hits, then you win $462 - recouping the $362 lost in the first two bets plus gaining an extra $100 in your pocket, and marking it a series win to boot.

GOOD EXPLANATION! Another way to do it is BET TO GET EVEN. If the first game hits, you win. If not, It gives you an extra game for the chase.

Bet the Angels REALLY miss K-Rod now... couldn't hold a 3-0 lead in the 9th, and lost in extras... already locked in tomorrow's game w/ Santana on the mound for the Angels @ -178
... long time follower of chase systems, first-time BASEBALL chase bettor... tried something similar with hockey (in the same discussion forum) but I started too late in the season, and went something like 18-1 but broke even... DANGEROUS TERRITORY to chase at the end of a season when a lot of teams are either resting players for playoffs or don't give a shit cuz they're already eliminated......
For those posters with the databases/stats, is there any way to check what the total net units is if one was to only chase home teams above .500 (at time of chase) and fade-chase away teams that are sub-.500? Reason I ask is because I didn't want to bet chase-game1 on Indians tonight (good price, but against hot Yanks and CC Sabathia, I wish I just started game 1 of the chase tomorrow)...
