I have resurrected an old system that I used to play for NHL games back in the day when I lived in Vegas with some great results. You can get the stats from right here on Covers. I like playing the Unders but you can also use it for Over plays as well.
Add both teams GF and GA avg. divide by 2. If the number falls below 5 it's a great Under play. Example tonight's play would be Montreal-Ottawa
Montreal Stats GF-2.82 GA-2.24
Ottawa Stats GF-2.28 GA 1.83
Add the above numbers= 9.17 divide by 2=4.58
This number is a strong Under play.

There are other factors involved but this is the gist of the system. A good example of other factors would be when a team is suddenly hot and scoring alot of goals. I would lay off and wait for the numbers to come back down.
One word of caution be very careful if that number falls between 5.2-5.6. That can be very tricky. Good Luck
