IMO I find that has a dumb move.  They were 4th in runs scored, 3rd in batting average, 4th in OBP, and 4th in slugging.  Their offense and Verlander is what got them to the playoffs so why go get more offense when their pitching is horrible other than Ver of course.  They needed to atleast go get a pitcher that will be able to back Justin up.  Makes no sense to me.

they lost victor martinez for the entire season and they obviously knew they had to replace him...now they have 2 of the best bats in the league to go along with verlander...imo, detroit is now a serious world series contender

Sorry but until they get some decent pitching I will never consider them as legit contenders because last year they rode Justin WAY too hard and look what happened in the playoffs he got shelled.  Yes they may have great hitting but put them into a sitution in which their bats are cold ( it happens to everyone) and they will tumble like bricks because all they have is Justin and he can't pitch every game and every inning.  They are just lucky they are in a shitty division.
