2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup

Kicking off this Saturday another edition of the Gold cup. The rightful favorites and most recent champions Mexico are a step above the field here. A step below we have the contenders that include Panama, Canada, Costa Rica & the USA. The state that the Americans are in and with several key players opting out to rest they will be fade material for this tournament. Panama and Costa Rica are focused on world cup qualification and are prized accordingly. Canada is fielding a strong squad that is only missing injured Alfonso David of Bayern Munich. There are not too many futures out, so I will play only one to start.

1. Gold Cup winner Canada @ 7.00/+600

Their toughest game of the group stage is at home in Vancouver versus Honduras, leaving them with two opponents in El Salvador & Curacao battling for the basement. The path is pretty clear to the semis.

Digging for some value as I see nothing but a Mexico victory here. So why not take AC Milan's and former Feyenoord & Mexico's best player to score.

3. USA -2.5 @ 2.23/+123 (1u) Pinnacle

The USA is in shambles at the moment and thus the line move on June 5th for -2.5 was -106. I think that is an overreaction versus the poorest side in the group. The last 3 games the USA played versus Trinidad on home soil were all USA wins 3-0, 6-0 & 7-0. Both sides played a common opponent this year in Costa Rica where the USA won 3-0 and Trinidad just lost 2-1 a few days ago. Trinidad has also lost 3 of their past 4 games.

Haiti V Saudi Arabia

4. Both teams to score YES @ 2.00/+100 (1u) Bet365

Haiti have had their past 10 games all go over 2.5, they scored at least a goal in each of those games while scoring 36 goals themselves. Saudi Arabia will not treat this as serious as their world cup qualifiers as they have yet to secure a spot in next years competition. I'm expecting an open attacking game from both sides.

Panama v Guadeloupe

5. Panama -1 @ 1.93/-107 (1u) Pinnacle

Panama are the class of this group and will battle it out with Jamaica for top spot. Guadeloupe outside of El Salvador are the poorest side at the Gold Cup. The sides have not met each other recently but did face a common opponent in Nicaragua. Panama won 3-0, Guadeloupe won 1-0.

Jamaica v Guatemala

6. Jamaica ML @ 1.76/-132 (2u) Pinnacle

These sides just played in a world cup qualifier with Jamaica winning 3-0. At the last gold cup Jamaica won 1-0. Trying not to over think this one and simply backing the better side.

The last head to head meeting in 2023 ended in a Panama 3-0 win. I expect Panama to roll and win the group now that Jamaica slipped up and dropped points to Guatemala.

Canada v Curacao

Both have recently met in the Nations league with Canada winning 2-0 away & 3-0 at home. Curacao could not beat lowly El Salvador in their opener where as Canada won 6-0 versus Honduras.

Honduras v El Salvador

Honduras will aim to bounce back from their 6-0 defeat versus Canada. I still rate El Salvador as the lowest power ranked team at the Gold cup. Thinking a 1-0 or 2-0 final for the Los Catrachos.

El Salvador are yet to score a goal at the tournament. The last 2 head to head meetings Canada wins 2-0 and 3-0. David has been unlucky not have scored yet but I think he opens his account tonight. Jesse Marsch will be back after his suspension and I expect Canada to bounce back from a poor performance versus Curacao.

Honduras v Panama

13. Honduras +1 @ 1.74/-135 (1u) Pinnacle

The last time these sides met was in Panama for world cup qualification with the game ending 1-1. The last time they met at a Gold cup 4 years ago Honduras was the fav priced at +108 on the ML and won 3-2. Too much respect for Panama here.

Mexico v Saudi Arabia

14. Total goals UNDER 2.5 @ 1.71/-141 (1u) Pinnacle

Look no further for the Saudi game plan then the match versus the USA. They put 10 men behind the ball park the bus and defend. 7 of the last 8 games for the Saudis have gone under. It all looks like a grind it out 1-0 or 2-0 win for Mexico.
