I know da bears will be favs, regardless I'm taking the Falcons to win this one su.

    Atlanta - 17                                              Chicago - 14

Falcons plus the points                     31 points should go under

If Kong is still hangin around the Atlanta area, he surely will          this play.

Sorry Kong, this game is the Bears to lose. It won't happen though. Stupid me had Atlanta going into Chicago and winning this one SU. After some thought and research, the Bears with Cutler will outscore the dirty birds putting up some big numbers. The defense will give up some but the Falcons will come up on the short end of the stick.

    Chicago - 30                             Atlanta - 24

    Bears                                      over

My first thought was to be all over Atlanta.  I think the Bears are going to fall to mediocrity this year, and Atlanta still looks strong.  In particular, I don't see the Chicago defense being anywhere near what it was last season.  However, Cutler has some great games to go with his bad ones.  And I don't want to bet many road teams week 1.  I can see Chicago winning a shootout, or Atlanta winning a 20-17 type game.  No play most likely.

agree maddencutter my first thought was the same. Then I looked how Atlanta has played when they traveled up to soldier field and saw the bad news. But this Atlanta team certainly has all their pieces in place and now I'm back on their bandwagon.

Back to my original prediction. no shootout in this one.

    ATLANTA - 17                  CHICAGO - 14

    ABSOLUTE FINAL PLAY.

FALCONS FLY OUT OF CHICAGO WITH A WIN.

With the off-season still not resolved, I'll take an early shot and say Chicago-20 Atlanta-17.

Defense is going to rule alot of September games since teams have little time this offseason to get on the same page. Both teams have solid cores so this game will be better than most 2011 week one games. The Bears have that "3 point game" tendency that is always on my mind and I think being home will be the difference especially since ATL plays better at home on the turf.

    Good Luck to All

Actually, I heard Peter King say it first.  You know, the guy for Sports Illustrated who predicted Green Bay Pittsburgh?

Is this line a joke? Why is it not 7 or 8? The Bears are a garbage franchise. They'll finish the season with 5 wins if they're lucky.

The Falcons are even more of a threat this season. The new additions, new play calling, new vibe. It's an insult to not be giving at least 7.

    Falcons 34

    Bears 13

Ryan will pass for 300 and 3 touchdowns.

Wow give the Bears some credit i think they deserve it getting to the championship game last year and how are they a garbage franchise?? They do have one hell of a tough scedule to start the year with the saints and packers after this so being at home this game is almost a must win for them already . It would me more insulting for The Bears to be given as a 7 point home dog to start the year , i see a close game here i really would not be surprised to see the Falcons win they have a very good team i think the current line is just where it should be but if you're that confident Vegas will gladly take that bet anyday .

I'm suprised everyone is looking to jump on the Falcons.... if this was in ATL where Matty Ice has an unbelievable home record, then I would be jumping on them as well....

but this isn't the case.... they are going to soldier grass field and they are a dome team..... Matty Ice's road record is very unimpressive

Chicago's rush defense should be stingy at home and I don't expect ATL to run all over this team......

with that being said, Matt Ryan and weapons should find success through the air against the Cover 2...

on the other-side of the ball dabears oline is awful..... they are going to have a tough time with the Falcons pass rush but I have a feeling Martz is gonna throw some screens to Forte to slow everyone down....

I'm expecting a high scoring game....

Plus I love the line movement as this game opened up at Da Bears giving .5.... now they are getting 3?

I'll roll with the home dawg all day...

Chicago +3.... should be a good one!

I'm so baffled that I've been trying to figure out why the line is only 2.5. I came up with two possibilities.

1- 0-4 in preseason? Is it possible the line is so low because our 4th stringers lost 4 meaningless games? That can't be it.

2- Possibility of overlooking this matchup for week 2 showdown against Philly.

at first glance id say ATL, but you gotta consider the way the bears clicked late in the year, and plus poeple ATL isnt at home, they tend to lose away from home, bears have a great chance to win and you cant even call it an upset cuz the season is just starting, for example this past weekend all the experts and books had favorites like tcu and irish and instead i went with baylor and SF, so i think id go with bears on this one, and if they win it will just prove once more that know ones and expert until the season starts rolling...

i'll take the Falcons; i think the ATL offense will be too much for CHI to handle. if the game were being played at Soldier Field in DEC then it would be a different story.
