#2 this is one guy's opinion in comparison to hundreds of years of naval law above. 

At the end of the day the UN may just create new laws of blockade because of this, but I think that it will take a worldwide railroading to make anything stick. 

Israel is not dumb, do you think that maybe they looked at the 2 page document that outlined the legality of their multinational blockade?

There is still a lot that needs to be hammered out, but I can find no fault with Israel thus far for their actions.

that is ludicrous. It has been there for 3 friggin years.

an interesting side note to the whole story, is that they are releasing 50+ members of the world jihad movement, and 100+ members that have ties to Al Qaedea.

PR move basically, 

the UN has been breathing down their necks about this blockade for a while, and they believe it is vital to their survival.

Once that ship would have made it to gaza how many of those on board would have joined the fight against Israel. 

Oh well, the send them back to Turkey, and hope that they catch them next time, or that they decide to go to Afghanistan or Iraq , or maybe to Africa for more training.

If he only shot 5 times, that is fantastic shooting, excellent shot grouping.  And he gets to live and shoot another day.
Rule #1 Don't bring a pipe to a gun fight.
#2  Don't get hostile when someone has a gun.
#3 If you have nothing to hide, and are not trying to escalate the situation, you should comply with requests.
#4 It is not a good idea to get in the middle of two parties who are at war.
#5 If you choose to ignore, antagonize, or get involved with either party, expect repercussions.
#6 If you cannot or refuse to understand the possible consequences of your actions, you can claim to be the victim.
Which works with some that cannot rationalize..
It would equate to giving a roasted pig to either party as a gift.
I would ask first.

What can they do?  They are surrounded by people who want them wiped off the map.  IMO it doesnt matter what concessions they make the groups firing missiles at them wont care.  They believe that person shouldn't being living among them.

I believe it is just a matter of time until they take a serious military defeat. You can't continue to thumb your nose at the international community forever.

That may be true but you arent answering my question.  If you were them what would be the logical response to all the aggression that they get?

Also if they do take a defeat it will because they are fighting countries that won't worry about the laws you refer to.

Knowing Israels track record with using disproportional force in engagements  (rocks against guns) it is not difficult to believe many innocent people where murdered here.


I've always found this phrase of using "disporportionate force" amusing... and always see it when talking about Israeli-Palestinian conflicts.  Hell , even France's Sorkozi used it this week.

Since when are people/countries supposed to fight on equal footing ?

Deadly force can be met with deadly force.

A guy in LA was shot dead for holding a rake above his head at an officer.  The officer that shot was vindicated and no charges were filed.  I am not saying that it is right but this is universal. 

They knew who those people dropping on the ship were,
and they knew exactly why they were there. 

A huge part of me thinks that some of the "aid workers"  (lol)  were trying to get shot to make an international scene and bring attention to something that they feel (perhaps rightly so) is unjust.

If you libs are so outraged by Israels actions now, you are wasting your breath.  Sit back and let this all simmer, then watch when they fire a series of nukes at Iraq.  When there is a death toll up in the range of 500,000 or better you will have much more to fuel your outrage.

Does nobody see this coming?  It's imminent...

The world has become absolutely numb to the power of nukes.  We will be reminded of that very soon IMO.

Interesting. I didn't see one of these bleeding hearts condemning N Korea for their unprovoked attack on SK which killed 50 or anger for rockets being fired into Israel, but when a couple scumbag terrorists get roughed up a little bit, damn it's like the lefties all missed their pedicures at once.

Autopsy shows 5 were shot in the head.

So the Israeli army executes one by shooting him 4 times in the head an 4 others died from head shots. They were shooting to kill, they were not trying to control the situation.

All the Israelis had to do was wait for the ship to enter their waters and there wouldnt be as much outrage. Instead they commit a crime and try covering it up.

Those were defensive head shot wounds, not point blank kneeling on the ground head shot wounds.

Those soldiers should be proud of the courage they showed that day.
