Again USA is using the Ukraine War to Export USA Inflation into the EU! The Dollar & Euro are at War! The USA Financial System & the European Financial System are at War! China & Russia are nothing but Window dressing, sure we don’t want those countries ahead of us but there’s not much we can do!

EU made the euro because they wanted to make it easier to trade between each other - if we really wanted to push the EUR to be the world reserve currency and went all in - it would already be ! Russia has none to sell to - China has no domestic demand - US doesn’t produce anything - of the major economic superpowers - EU is the one with the least problems - we just have shrinking demands internationally due to what is happening in the world 

Btw putting Russia into a conversation about super powers of the world is laughable ! Their economy are in ruin - and they have lost all influence they once had in both the Middle East and Africa - Russia is a nothing burger ! US is afterall still a cheeseburger - just without the cheese

 I think the EU went with the Euro because you have multiple member countries that were swirling the drain back then and without the stability of the stronger countries there are MANY who would be paying very high rates especially right now.

Germany carries lots of the weak debt/gdp countries and without the stronger top tier countries there would be regional problems let alone the trade efficiencies that the union makes possible.

There are definitely more than one reason !  But trying to overtake the world reserve status wasn’t one of them ! And that is my main point ! Americans has a default setting that says “what the world does is a reaction to something I am doing - or because they want what I have” ! And that is not always the case ! Sometimes we just want to make our own life easier you know - and having a unified currency in the biggest market on earth - seems pretty efficient to me

 Agree about the world reserve currency. I do not see how a socialist union could be the standard of a global reserve currency. I also have not been impressed with the multiple decades leaders of the ECB and I have never thought that the ECB had ambitions for the Euro outside serving the common goal of a large range of countries of which many have serious economic baggage. I always felt the Euro helped the union in totality and in some respects its approach and goals do not make a ton of sense. Allowing many countries to float along with massive deficits, low GDP growth and sketch governments while a few of the strong player carried the load seemed bonkers and still does. To its credit the ECB and EU know that the full union matters more than if many are dragging down the stronger countries and that trade in the union is a paramount concern.

US prosperity is also carried by like 3 or 4 states ! I feel like your statement can be true for pretty much all “unions” ever to have existed - and as I have discussed with the Russian spy in here earlier - which countries that prospers fluctuate all the time ! Spain and Greece has done shit for years - suddenly they are some of our countries with the biggest growth - some of our countries rely mostly on exports - some on tourism - and so on ! So this is one of the best hedges for the big countries as well ! The expansion to the east is security related -  not economic

The EUR was made in the late 90’s ! 
That Trump decided he wanted to destroy everything that made USD the world reserve currency (the trust in your institutions - your preserved fairness and staying true to your side of a deal etc) and it has left a void in the world - that is a whole different discussion  and sorry to say that is a you problem - not a me problem
