Trump likely can't win
without veteran support

President Donald Trump has been on the defensive since Thursday over an article
in The Atlantic magazine that alleged, among other things, that he used derogatory
language about fallen US soldiers.
While Trump has forcefully denied that reporting, CNN has largely confirmed it, as have
Fox News, the Associated Press, the New York Times and the Washington Post in part.

Trump relies on active military members and veterans as a base of support,
and any degradation of that backing is bad for him. Further, Trump wants to
put former Vice President Joe Biden on the defensive, and this story
does the opposite of that.

Trump can thank veterans for his 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton.
According to the CCES study of verified 2016 voters, he won veterans and
active military members by a 27-point margin over Clinton.
This was a huge deal for Trump because active military and veterans make up
about 12% of voters. That's a slightly higher proportion of the electorate than
all Hispanic voters and just a hair less than 18-29 year-olds...

As far as losers and suckers Trump has justified this in stating my hero's weren't caught or killed.

Please spare us... We give national recognition to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Memorial day. July 4th and veterans day. We furthur recognize the bombing of pearl harbor dday and the end of ww2 vj day isn't that enough our president is a draft dodger .

He doesn't want to the sacrifice the commitment of veterans because no one in his family fought for the USA he comes from a whole line of draft dodgers... It isn't his thing....

Speaking of Vietnam draft dodgers in order to avoid compulsory military service during the war.  We can include Joe Biden with his five student deferments during the Vietnam era....

He has less than 7 percent chance to defeat Biden.

Then unless Biden becomes a neg 1000 it becomes a value bet

If Trump destroyed covid to no more than 10 k causulties dealing in world numbers than he have a good chance .

If Americans felt better about America 4 years later and he delivered his campaign promises of make America dream bigger and better than he have a good chance of winning presidency. At this point he will be lucky if he wins Utah...

a source sharing positive or interesting news about his businesses.

The president used the pseudonym John Barron in the 1980s, while he
was a real estate developer. Trump would introduce himself as Barron,
a spokesperson for himself. It was a "go-to alias when [Trump] was
under scrutiny, in need of a tough front man or otherwise wanting to
convey a message without attaching his own name to it,"
The Washington Post previously reported.

Trump also used the aliases John Miller, Carolin Gallego and David Dennison
for similar interactions with the media over the following decades.

While 61 percent of respondents believe Biden has more respect for the military,
only 37 percent say Trump has more respect, according to new polling released
Sunday by ABC News/The Washington Post/Ipsos.

Independent voters overwhelmingly see the Democratic candidate as having
more respect for those in the armed services: 65% while only 35% view Trump
as having more respect.

Fox News senior judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano cited his decades of friendship
with President Donald Trump in an op-ed published Thursday, writing that he
believes the president likely referred to military veterans as "losers" and "suckers"
as alleged by anonymous sources in a controversial report by The Atlantic.

"Trump's denials have been both ferocious and frivolous. He has attacked media
figures who are merely reporting what credible sources have told them. He also
denied calling the late Sen. John McCain 'a loser' because he was captured,
confined and tortured by the North Vietnamese," he wrote.
"Many networks—including Fox—then ran clips of Trump calling McCain a loser,
and Trump stopped denying it."

Newsweek reached out to the White House for comment,
but it did not respond by the time of publication.
