The Trump administration is freezing a massive swath of government funding until agencies review their programs for compliance with the president’s recently signed executive orders, sparking widespread confusion and worry in the healthcare industry.

The move — likely unconstitutional given Congress, not the president, has the power of the purse — could seriously harm healthcare providers nationwide, many of which rely on federal grants to operate, and may even pause federal Medicaid funding to states, according to experts.

Famed economist Paul Krugman on Monday warned how Donald Trump’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants is set “to hobble food production and home construction” and will likely — contrary to Trump’s campaign promises — send grocery prices soaring.

Krugman, the winner of the 2008 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, explained in the latest issue of his Substack newsletter how the president’s vows to hike tariffs and conduct mass deportations of undocumented immigrants will “likely to do a great deal of economic damage.”

But it’s the targeting of immigrants that “will spiral out of control,” he predicted.

The current fear among immigrants ? amid the Trump White House’s immigration enforcement blitz ? will have “major consequences, with workers staying home or, if they can, going back to their home countries, with businesses laying off valuable employees for fear that they may be raided,” Krugman argued.

Nearly 1,000 people were arrested on Sunday alone, reported CNN.

Trump’s second administration has nixed safe spots for migrants — such as schools and churches.

The economist envisioned an increase in vigilantism against immigrants.

And “losing a large fraction of these workers would be a serious blow to the economy, especially because immigrants, legal and not, play a much bigger role in some industries and occupations than they do in the economy as a whole,” he said.

Krugman last week warned that many Trump voters will be “brutally scammed” when Trump introduces tariffs on goods imported into America.

U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan said she was granting a “brief administrative stay” that preserves federal disbursements at least until Monday at 5 p.m. EST after a group of nonprofit and public health organizations filed a lawsuit.  The judge will hold another hearing Monday on whether to grant a longer pause.

 For sure, at this point hard to tell what he really cares about, if he cares about any of it. I am sure the rest of my life will be watching whatever these 2 parties  fighting about playing out in court. This shit could go on for next 24 years easy it is starting to look. Trump announces 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports which would hurt auto. shipbuilding. construction and military equipment industries in the US.  Previous tariffs failed to boost domestic production.  Since 2017, US industry produces 1% less steel and 10% less aluminum in 2024.  More inflation and unemployment plus less economic growth and competition are problems of trade wars.

Makes me wonder even more of what crap the government is spending on.  What are they really hiding?  This is for all elected officials.
