Polls show most Canadians reject Trump missile defense system.  Without Canada, golden dome would be less effective because Canadian radars and airspace are necessary to intercept missiles as far away from the US as possible.  Normally, Canada cooperates with US in NORAD but Trump has a bad habit of turning allies into enemies.  Besides, experts question the cost and feasibility of a missile defense system.  For decades, billions of dollars have already been invested in US missile defense system with limited capability.  But intercepting a missile is far harder than launching one.  Easier for enemies to try to overwhelm defense by building more missiles with decoys in arms race endangering world.
