Thanks Darkhorse,, I misremember when he issued that...but in  Judge William H. Orricks' ruling he sided with Santa Clara County, the city of San Francisco and other jurisdictions, who argued that a threat to take away federal funds from cities that do not cooperate with some federal immigration enforcement could be unconstitutional. ........Not that it was unconstitutional ....

Why must the lot of you guys act like such combative jerks like this?

You guys under 30 seem to lack the ability to express yourself in a way that isnt moronic.

Blanket generalizations are so cute, like how we used to act in elementary school.

    Sabanesque - Brilliant post.

I'd add: 12) The democrats continued appeasement of violent criminals, their refusal to condemn HATE movements like Black Lives Matter, actively calling for the death of police officers, "What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it?” Now!”  Liberals are solely responsible for the large, and largely irresponsible, role in the creation and maintenance of a poisonous racial atmosphere that has ruined the country and claimed the lives of many policemen around the country.

I guess being perceived as moronic is better than how most of the "tolerant left" and these snowflake progressives are acting in the streets. I would take judged hurtful words typed than idiots covering their faces and committing violent crimes against the right and people for free speech. But maybe all those people doing all that are over 30, huh?

there is no law cited in that opinion piece (or anywhere else) that requires the city/county/state governments do do anything affirmative to catch immigrants, including notifying the federal government of anything.

so, i repeat my question, what law requires local government to notify ICE of anything?

    answer: there is none.

now, that law that is cited in wordsmyth's link says the state/local governments can not prohibit the federal government/ice from obtaining information or sending information about immigrants but there is no duty to help them in any way.

in other words, the state/local governments can't obstruct the federal government, but they don't have to help them.

i'll give you an analogy and hopefully this helps you understand it.

the state and local governments have absolutely no duty to help the federal government find adn arrest illegal immigrants.  it's 100% the obligation of the federal government unless there is an agreement between the feds and the state/local government entities.   likewise, you and i have no duty to help the police arrest criminals.  that is 100% the obligation of the various law enforcement agencies.

so, if you are in a store and you see some guy take a bunch of garbage and run out without paying, you have no obligation to try to catch that person.  you also have no obligation to call the police.

now, relevant to the law that was cited in wordsmyth's link, which absolutely does not support his prior claim that state/local governments have a duty to inform the feds about immigrants or take any other affirmative action, you can't restrict or obstruct the police as they try and find and/or catch the guy.

it's a terrible opinion piece and it doesn't say what they want it to say.

he says cities need to respect federal laws but doesn't say which laws are applicable.  he doesn't say what a sanctuary city is.  most people have no clue because they don't know how immigrants are caught and deported so they don't understand how the dynamic between ICE and the state/local governments is relevant to the issue.

next paragraph talks about criminals getting released from prison without notifying ICE.  but you'll notify he doesn't identify one law that requires such notification.  you and i know why- there isn't one.

he does accurately cite the only law that is somewhat relevant, 8 usc 1373, but you'll notice he says it prohibits state/local agencies from "restraining" ice.  it says nothing about notifying or helping them proactively.

the article is shallow and says next to nothing but certainly does not support any argument that state/local governments have a duty to take action to help federal immigration officials.  if he is going to put that sh*t out there, he should have least helped people understand what a sanctuary city actually is.

More generalities, I really do not know what you are even talking about, progressive snowflakes, all the other surface stuff you wrote.

What you and some of your pals are missing is there is no such thing as generalities, especially in a large society. There are not more hate crimes against free speech (laughable words you used, really) from one side to the other...people are people. Left thinking people are the same as right thinking people...you take a large basket of left and large basket of right and analyze the behaviors, the ways of expression, the viewpoints and you will find the same exact thing in both groups....that is called human nature big guy and the conservative group does not have a different genetic makeup than the liberal group or any other group.

My comment is about the immaturity from some of the younger conservative members and their abusive way of expressing their differences. I hate generalities, especially negative and condescending ones, it holds no place in a discussion and actually weakens the point they are trying to make...as did your general comments.

Sorry I read the rest of you drivel and it didn't seem worth responding with any real thought. After you failed to comprehend or just ignored as most liberals do, what the right is trying to say, I lost interest. The left and most liberals twist the facts to what they want and ignore the truth. What's the saying, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. That's should be the left's motto. Good day sir.
