Fell Asleep Again at Day 2 of the historic criminal Hush Money Trial

Several reporters in attendance at former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial shared on the air and social media that for the second day in a row, Trump fell asleep in court.

CNN contributor Norm Eisen tweeted on Tuesday: “Trump is asleep again” at nearly 11:00 AM. And his account was corroborated by others on site. During an on air hit in the 10 a.m. hour, MSNBC’s Yasmin Vossoughian passed along contributor Lisa Rubin’s observation of Trump as having his eyes closed and “leaning to the left.”

Law360’s Frank G. Runyeon had a detailed play-by-play of Trump allegedly dozing off. On Twitter/X, he wrote: “Trump’s head slowly dropped, his eyes closed. It jerked back upward. He adjusts himself. Then, his head droops again. He straightens up, leaning back. His head [droops] for a third time, he shakes his shoulders. Eyes closed still. His head drops. Finally, he pops his eyes open.”

Dementia Don Strikes Again!

Wednesday morning, Trump attacked Jimmy Kimmel for something Kimmel didn’t do.

Trump, calling Kimmel “stupid,” blasted the comedian for his general performance as host of the Academy Awards in March and specifically for having read aloud, from the stage, Trump’s mid-show social media post criticizing how he was doing. Then Trump claimed that Kimmel had read out the post “right before he stumbled through announcing the biggest award of all, ‘Picture of the Year.’”

Trump continued: “It was a CLASSIC CHOKE, one of the biggest ever in show business, and to top it off, he forgot to say the famous and mandatory line, ‘AND THE WINNER IS.’ Instead he stammered around as he opened the envelope.”

Facts First:  Trump’s claim is false.

Kimmel wasn’t the person who delivered an unusual, abrupt performance in announcing the Best Picture award won by “Oppenheimer”; that was actually legendary actor Al Pacino, whom Kimmel had introduced.

And the current standard Oscars announcement phrase Pacino neglected to say is “and the Oscar goes to,” not “and the winner is” as was the standard prior to 1989.

Just out of curiosity, I googled the age at which father Fred started to show signs of dementia, just to get an idea what kind of timeline might be in store for the son.

Now, to get all disclaimery, a parent having Alzheimer’s is a possible indicator of increased likelihood of a child getting it, but is by no means a certainty. So the following is all purely speculative, but this thread is speculative so here goes…

In October 1991, Fred Trump would have just turned 85, less than 8 years older than donald is now.

But Fred probably showed significant signs of mental impairment for quite some time before the official diagnosis. The kind of mental issues that would be less than ideal in a sitting President. And donald trump loathes exercise, is obese, and certainly does not challenge himself cognitively, so if dementia is in store for him, he’s not doing anything to stave it off quite the opposite, his bad health habits would be prone to possibly accelerate oncoming dementia.
