Corporate media? I barely even watch the local news and never watch cable news. Never read any of the bullshit facebook stories that i'm sure you're all about either. I block out the news of the world. I go on hikes, go to the gym, go out to eat with the mrs. The common man can definitely figure out the truth for himself. I just don't think you have. I think you're just repeating the same bullshit that floats around on the internet.

Many people cannot distinguish between lies and truths.  For example, millions believe in Trump's big lie about stolen election despite all evidences proving Biden won election fairly.  Misguided anti-vaxers and anti-maskers distrust real experts and scientific consensus.  Instead they believe crazy conspiracy theories.  Now countries have forced facebook, twitter and others into regulating content.  Most fake news come from social media.  Most people trust mainstream media far more than social media. 

Only a tiny minority of stupid people believe pandemic is a hoax.  Every top public health organization in the world recognizes new coronavirus crisis.  In 2020, US experiences over 300,000 excess deaths when compared to past years.  More deaths than expected that can only be caused by the pandemic according to study from Virginia commonwealth university.   Since 2010, the average flu season kills between 12,000 to 61,000 Americans according to Center for disease control.  US top infectious disease expert Doctor Fauci says coronavirus is 10 times deadlier than the flu and far more contagious.

I am interested in what the majority of stupid people believe?

I’m not sure if I want to side with the minority of stupid people or the majority of stupid people; or the minority of smart people or the majority of smart people. 

I am wondering what happened to the, ‘according to’ part also? 

Who tested these folk’s smarts and then asked what they believed?

Shouldn’t it be on YOU to define ‘hoax’?  This didn’t start out with someone saying it was NOT a HOAX.  It started when you implied it WAS a HOAX.  

I get some of your points.  Maybe if you explained them better and with numbers and researched data the folks could better see where you are coming from.  

Obviously, people are getting sick and people are dying.  So, that part, for sure is NOT a hoax.  Now, you can say it is overblown by the media and they are keeping people scared — that could be seen as a hoax.  You cannot even argue that the Wuhan is not as bad as the flu in a normal year.  You have to substantiate your position better.

This is perplexing to me when folks say this sort of thing.  You are not the only one — GG does it all the time. 

You seem to always have a well-informed opinion on things.  Doesn’t matter whether I agree with it or not — you still, obviously, are getting ‘information’ from somewhere.  

You are not getting it from the buddies at the gym or on your hikes or just from the Mrs. 

Nothing wrong with NOT getting it from TV.  However, when people will not say where they DO get it from, that I cannot understand.  

For example, I do not own a TV and never have.  I am not on social media at all.  I used to read 4-5 newspapers a day.  Now I read news on several different sites — Conservative, Liberal, and (supposedly) Independent ones.  I am also on a few sites like this one that are more news/opinion oriented as well.

I am willing to say I don’t have a TV or social media.  However, not shy to say I got something online from CNN or FOX — for example.

I think folks have to be informed and read (maybe watch) news from various sources.  They then can make a well-informed opinion. 

This is not like the old days when the newsman, mostly, had to make his point in 4-5 minutes and tell what happened.  Nowadays, they can drone on forever and beat a news story in the ground, WITH their opinion — because of 24 hour news.

So, we are constantly bombarded with news from many sources.  I am not ashamed to say I got a news bit from CNN online.  Even though I know they are slanted away from my personal views. 

At any rate — not just meant towards you.  I just wish folks would explain they understand the media is biased BUT can still form their own opinions USING it and not INFLUENCED by it.

Everyone on here knows my stance on masks -- they are basically useless.  This stance I have backed up with a plethora of data.

I also agree the 'two weeks to flatten the curve' was wrong.  Even once the curve was 'flattened' they kept the lockdowns and restrictions in place.  You can argue -- again, with solid data -- that all that did was push the whole curve out linearly.  But you need to demonstrate that sort of thing -- not just throw it out as a blanket statement.  That was my point.

Again, I agree with you about the masks --BUT I have backed it up with data and studies.

Of course you NEED data.  Otherwise, your opinion is just an outlier opinion that disagrees with people THAT are using data and studies to back their opinion up.  That is what you have to refute.  You cannot convince someone just on your say-so.  If your whole point is just to rant and vent frustration --- I get it -- and, carry on.

If you are outside and away from people watching nature fishing jogging in a deserted area by your self on a beach. Or with those who you live with . Then masks are unnecessary. If you get a vaccine a find some who has the same vaccine and infected by covid stay away . Because the mutation has made the vaccine ineffective.

How ever if your in a public space store , library, building where the mask cause you have no idea what your encountering even with the vaccine.  We are down to 800 deaths a day in the US. We can be down to zero by July. 

We have a booster vaccine to destroy all respiratory syndrome infection caused by a virus entering phase 2 clinical we can adapt a booster so no one comes down with an airborne viral infection.  But that is a series of boosters.
