I really can't see that happening. A third party dream is that just a dream. A much easier and makeable path is what is happening now in the Republican Party. Change from within.. purge out the old and bring in the new..reshape the existing party.. ( by the way this started to transform in 2009 with the Tea Party movement ) ....for example ..the Republican Party does not look as conservative as in the past and it now looks like it has the majority of working-class men without college degrees...that has always been a group in the Democrat Party's pocket since I can remember
If we look at both parties ,,, not this years candidates you see a transformation in the Republican Party while the Democratic Party resembles the Grand Old Democrat Party of the past..

The system is so rigged. The guy is intelligent and I went to see him here in Colorado last night. He is a decent (not great) speaker and has VERY GOOD IDEAS. He is also, honest and trust worthy and not crazy nor a Clinton.
Look, if you do not like the Donald and you do not like Hillary (about 70% of us) Then take a minute and go his website and see what his platform is. If this looks reasonable to you (Fiscally conservative, socially inclusive) Then VOTE FOR GARY.

i've been following johnson since around 2008. i could care less how good a speaker a person is. i care somewhat about what someone wrote on his website as it might be some indication of what his policies are. i do care if a guy has basic knowledge o critical issues.
i like johnson because he's actually a true small government guy. but, how can you be small government when one of the biggest big government issues is out military and our foreign policy and johnsons doesn't seem to understand how much money and resources we waste in various parts of the world?

Yes-
There is no doubt about his intelligence. He is a two-term Governor who balanced the budget in his home state. He then built a successful business and made some decent change.
I know little about foreign affairs but I know as much as Gary which is our foreign policy should be to keep us safe and protected. The military has been a tremendous strain on the economy over the last 20 years with the Middle East wars. Gary believes in a form of isolationism. Protect the borders, protect us. He will not intervene in the aggression that has marked the previous administrations in the US. Isn't it funny how we all wanted a war with Iraq but now we all say we did not want it?
Gary is not pro-military, it is that simple. I like that idea and I am comfortable that he does not know about Aleppo or have a foreign leader he likes. He is just a regular Joe, who will try to make good decisions for the other regular Joes. Is that what Clinton will do? Is that what Trump will do?
Your government has been stolen by special interest groups and the ultra-wealthy. If you want a chance to steal it back, then vote for the humble average guy, who will lead in a manner to benefit the most people.
If you want to see the ultra wealth get richer- Vote for the Donald
If you want to see the special interest groups grow in Washington and have politics as usual, vote for the Liar.
This is not even close to me.

I'll give you that Gary Johnson is a good guy. Although he maybe honest to his own detriment. He did leave his state as Gov.after two terms financially stable and we know Gary was a super athlete..
He is also President and CEO of a cannabis company and after a near fatal sport accident awhile back he he took medical Mary Jane for years..to ease the pain.. The problem I have with Gary Johnson is after a couple of his last interviews ..you have to wonder if he ever stopped blowing the smoke..
I have nothing against any adult choosing to use ganga...however what we don't need at this time is a President getting high on his own supply...and having to make decisions about our country..

I disagree but I have no delusion it will happen anytime soon. A lot of people are tired of the two party system.
This election is the perfect example based on the "best" candidates each party produced. If Trump and Clinton are the best we have to offer then we deserve to collapse.
Third parties are polling higher and higher each year. I am not talking anytime soon but maybe 20, 30 or 50 years from now if we keep producing candidates like these people will see the light. It is not out of the realm of possibilities. Something has to change, we can't keep doing this same nonsense and expect a positive outcome for out country.

You are correct a lot people are tired of the two party system..
I believe one way a third Party could take hold and it wouldn't take 50 years is if a strong leader from one of the two main party's were to leave his/her party and go to a third party............
e.i. Abraham Lincoln was a Whig leader who left the party and joined the newly formed Republican Party....

It is very hard for a third Party to compete with one of two major political parties because these parties share almost all the political power in the country.. I could see one of the two major party's changing it's name and changing some of the planks in it's platform....but,, till then it's these two main political party's ....till the revolution..

Johnson is a good person and has an impressive resume. The problem as noted is that he has limited political skills. He comes across as bland and boring. The American people want a revolution and some1 to destroy the current system. Johnson ought to take 5 critical areas (i.e. Immigration, debt, defense, etc) and come up w specific solutions. He should then develop creative ideas to market this contrast against Hillary and clown (don't think Bernie sanders would be doing as poorly). To illustrate the up hill battle he was on 1 of the Sunday talk shows several weeks ago for a detailed interview and then during the panel discussion that followed he wasn't even mentioned.
