No one is more qualified and respected than Fauci the leading infectious disease expert in the US. Trump couldn't fire him without cause. There are civil service protections for career federal employees that prevent their removal for political gain. Under Biden administration, Fauci helped to develop US vaccination program that prevented over one million covid deaths and millions of hospitalizations.
Trump mismanaged pandemic but tried to deflect blame. Smear campaign continued in congress investigations which lead to nothing from justice department.
