By that logic then shouldn't a christian politician do everything possible to convert citizens and punish those that don't convert. Why should politicians make abortion illegal and gay marriage illegal and all that, but not make other religions (and they are false religions, right?) also illegal and make everyone christians? Wouldn't a true christian do that?
yes, all infidels should be appropriately dealt with. that's the Katherine Harris way.

No. Abortion should be illegal because it is the killing of an innocent child. A man is not a suitable partner for a man just as an animal is not a suitable partner for a man; marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman that they may become one. Also, no, other religions should not be made illegal, many religions do have some truth within them but, the question is which one is fully true and my answer to that would be the one in which Jesus Christ claimed that, the gates of Hell shall not prevail against, and that would be the Catholic Church... It is very late and I do not have time to give a more complete answer but, I hope I can assist anyone who may have any questions about Catholicism. Good night and God Bless

You must be one of the lucky one's that didn't get molested by the good & righteous father.

Those horrible acts were done by an extraordinarily small number of priests and those who had been involved in those atrocious actions have been dealt with and probably had there positions revoked. Most priests reflect the truth of Christ within there lives completely... Although some of these men had went completely against the teachings of the Church it does not alter the fact that the Church is where the fullness of truth exists..We are all tempted to sin and all have fallen short of the glory of God but, we should not put each other down when we fall but yet we should lift one another up...

You are unable to think for yourself. You are (more than likely)catholic because it is what you were born and raised into. Just like all religions. Each of them claim to be the righteous path. Each of them claim to KNOW what is what. When in fact, no one on this planet knows anything.

starwink, they sinned, we are all sinners, but they are forgiven because they have taken Jesus Christ as their savior. See, you can do whatever you want as long as you accept Jesus Christ. If you don't accept Jesus Christ then you go to hell no matter what you do. This Jesus dude got a big ego, he's all that matters. Oh yeah, and he died 2008 years ago for your sins. Shame on you.

clearly acmoore has been molested, as i understand the word, psychologically. if he was a young german in the 1930's he'd be a nazi and killing person, catholics, polish and russians. if he was a young person brought up by extremists muslim groups in the middle east somewhere, he'd be strapping on the bomb belt to blow up a restaurant full of infidels (the jewish or christian kind). but he's been otherwise indoctrinated and while the message is different, the context is the same- the thoughts and ideas are clearly someone else's for someone else's purposes.

How can Catholicism be "fully true" when it actually hid the "truth" of the molesting of its own innocent children, for decades?
What was Jesus doing during these events, which were happening within the Catholic Church?
When I say the fullness of truth, what is meant by that is the the Church is fully true in teachings, doctrine, etc. Not that all who are Catholic are unable of being anything other that prefect or true. Sry if I was misleading.

Wasn't Jesus more of a teacher, than an absolver of sins?
I believe Jesus was a teacher of kindness, tolerance, charity, and love.
Yet, most Republicans assume he was a Republican.

Actually that is not at all the Catholic teaching on forgivness. Although it is only by what Jesus did that we may be forgiven. It is not just a one time thing, like taught by many non-catholic christians that all you have to do is say you believe in Jesus and no matter what, you are going to heven...It is a process, a continual 'yes' to the Lord and a turning from sin. It is not easy to get to heven but, God will grant you the grace you need to get there if you are willing to percivere through this life...Also, as Catholics we have hope that God will have mercy on those that 'through no fault of there own' have not come to know the saving truth of Christ.

Na man he was not a Republican nor Democrat. You are correct. But, some of the times the very things that Dmocrats and/or Republicans represent, upon many/some issues can be very contrary to the Lords very teachings, on issues such as marriage, how we should treat one another, respect for life (from conception to naturan death), etc.

sure you were molested, psychologically, ac. to molest as i use the word is to interfere with.
at one point in your life, whether at age 2, 3, 6, 9, 14, whatever, presumably you were a carefree kid who didn't know anything about any religions and didn't care what other people believed. what other people believed about religion had no importance to you whatsoever. and then somewhere along the way someone interfered with that perspective and now you believe what you believe about religions and what other people should or shouldn't do and think. now, what other people believe has a much greater importance for you.
now, this psychological interference you experienced could have come from anywhere and given you any message. that's my point about how you'd be different if you were in your formative years in nazi germany or al qaeda afghanistan and your message would be different but your mindset, i suspect, would be similar. it's all relative.

Is it a sin to gamble and hang around with degenerates on covers.com? I need a ruling from our resident Jesus scholar...
Gambling intrinsicly (within itself) is not a sin. But, it can become a sin depending upon certain factors. Such as if it becomes an idol, or if you put all of your funds into gambling and neglect providing for your family...Also, i never said or believe that y'all are degenerates. And I am not a 'Jesus scholar' but, you can find more about Catholicism at catholic.com and ewtn.com. And there is a very good catholic radio program on 2 hours a day, 5 days a week, where ppl call in with questions about catholicism and have there questions answered by Catholics who truly know their stuff @ https://www.catholic.com/radio/calendar.php you can even get it in podcast form thru itunes.

Hey acmoore; doesn't catholicism teach that they are the chosen ones to go to heaven?
If you are asking if Catholics believe in predestination (it is predetermined before you are born as to whether or not you will go to heaven or hell, no matter what you do) then the answer is no.
