Nine Years Ago This Month ----Junk scientist Al Gore predicted the North Polar Ice Cap would be completely ice free in five years. Gore made the prediction to a German audience in 2008.

 He told them that “the entire North ‘polarized’ cap will disappear in 5 years.”

Gore’s been predicting this since 2007.

Former Vice President Al Gore references computer modeling to suggest that the north polar ice cap may lose virtually all of its ice within the next seven years..

In January 2006, Al Gore posited “within the next 10 years, the world will reach a point of no return” and “a true planetary emergency” due to global warming.

According to Algore the North Pole should be completely melted by now..but the reality is ..that this week the continental US is suffering through another deep freeze..and Santa Claus still has a frozen home at the North Pole..........

Not a record of the North Pole ...but the combined Arctic and Antarctic sea ice numbers....... were at their lowest point since satellites began to continuously measure sea ice in 1979.

Calling it a Record Low ...when they have only been tracking this for 38 years ...very small window ..very misleading ...and not enough data.

“It is tempting to say that the record low we are seeing this year is global warming finally catching up with Antarctica,” Meier said.

It's so cold,,,, that sharks are dying cold ... in Massachusetts sharks are washing up on the shoreline of Cape Cod Bay. The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy said two thresher sharks were found Wednesday, "likely stranded due to cold shock."

The wind chills in New York City will be around 0 when the ball drops in Times Square. Since the tradition began in 1907, there have only been two years colder than this year -- 1917 and 1962.

Trump's tweet suggests an often debunked misstatement about how climate change affects Earth.  He implies cold weather contradicts the notion of global warming.  Actually, winters can still occur despite global warming.  Due partly to disruption of jet stream, climate change can cause localized extreme cold as well as extreme heat.  Outside of north america, the planet is warmer than the historical average.  Recent years have been the warmest on record.

Climate change deniers have misrepresented what Gore said.  Fact checker snopes gives Gore a mixed rating.  Gore didn't claim to make the predictions and said the earliest years for icefree Arctic are projections from climate scientists.  Also Gore refers specifically to summer sea ice.  In recent years, ships have been able to travel without ice breakers through the Arctic ocean.  Even if polar ice caps are melting slowly, they are still shrinking at an alarming rate.  Sea levels have been rising for decades.

The claim that polar bears are dying in increasing numbers is also a hoax..

The new population estimates from the 2016 Scientific Working Group are somewhere between 22,633 to 32,257 bears, which is a net increase from the 2015 number of 22,000 to 31,000.

The current population numbers are a sharp increase from 2005’s, which stated only 20,000 to 25,000 bears remained — those numbers were a major increase from estimates that only 8,000 to 10,000 bears remained in the late 1960s.

Not so for polar bears... A polar bear can live up to 18 years on average in the wild...so the study from 1960's to 2016 ..would cover over 3 polar bear lifetimes..

It is amazing to me how quickly this farce took hold.  The problem is that years from now when we look back and realize that people fell so hard for this and yet we will still fall for the next big Liberal okey-doke.  It is striking that folks do not remember how easily they were mislead,  Same as the last worry about a possible ice age creeping up.  People tend to live in fear of the next big thing that is a disaster --- whether it is Y2K, SARS, ozone depletion, etc.

In all countries, academies of science accept manmade climate change. Only 3 countries reject Paris accord.  Over 90% of climate scientists accept global warming because of strong evidences confirmed by multiple independent studies worldwide.  So few scientists deny global warming that nonexperts such as politicians and lawyers are paid by fossil fuel industry to deny the truth.  Similar tactics used by tobacco industry.  But most people trust scientists more.

National academy of science education calls climate change denial a pseudoscience.  It pretends to be legitimate but actually works to influence public opinion.  Nonclimate scientists are paid by fossil fuel industry to deny the truth.  But real scientists volunteer research to United Nations for peer review.  Climate change shouldn't be political in the United States unlike other countries.

[/QuoteEvidences show that natural variability is insufficient to explain global warming  The lower atmosphere is warming while the upper atmosphere is cooling.  This rules out cycles related to the sun because solar influences would uniformly heat entire atmosphere.  Only reasonable explanation is greenhouse gases.

Centuries ago, greenhouse effect was discovered.  Due to evidences increasing every decade, many top scientific organizations now officially recognize manmade climate change.  Generally, the greater the expertise in climate science, the greater the acceptance of global warming.

American meterological society.  American association for advancement of science.  US national academy of science.  American geophysical union.  National association of geoscience.  National oceanic and atmospheric administration.  NASA.  University corporation for atmospheric research (representing over 100 universities).  United Nations intergovernmental panel on climate change summaries research from thousands of scientists.
