correct. BUT a government needs to be funded from somewhere. To date the best system i've encountered is the LVT. I've attempted to engage you (and others) on it before, but the furthest we've gotten is " Not everyone owns land"
frankly it is beyond me why every person that posted in this thread is NOT in favor of replacing the income tax with a land value tax

To answer your questions, I am defending the corporations becasue they have not broken the law. Nothing they have done is illegal. Even though I am not thrilled that these guys do not pay anything in taxes, I understand that it is because of crooked Politicians.
And please show me in the constitution where it says that GE has to pay taxes.,
This could be the post of the year on this site. So you dont believe that companies paying off politicans to change tax laws, did anything wrong and arent as guilty as the politicans. Both sides are guilty when you have a bribery case and just because nobody has gotten caught doesnt mean it hasnt taken place. For you to look the other way and give corporations {who are the ones who started the whole process of getting tax laws changed for their benefit} and instead just blame the politicans who are guilty as hell, just shows your true ignorance and honestly am pretty shocked that you dont see the companies doing anything wrong.
Person A hands person B 50 bucks to do something wrong, person B does the something wrong thing, both person A and person B are guilty.
Like i said before when all of our taxes go thru the roof in the next couple of years, while companies continue to pay zero taxes, dont moan, bitch and cry about.
Why anybody in this country would be happy and not care that companies are getting away paying no taxes while you are paying yours, makes zero sense.
Your a good man Rick for taking care of those companies, am sure the company thanks you everyday for picking up their share of the tax burden in our country
I guess the old saying really does hold up well in this case. "A FOOL AND HIS MONEY IS SOON PARTED"

For you and Tom Hanks on an island, the rest of us live in a country with hundreds of millions of people and that costs money.
Why these guys contiune a modern country like ours could ever function without a govt and taxes is beyond me. These guys just keep reading all these bullshit books from 1776 and they think our country can be like that.
I dont think they have any clue as to what are country would be like with 300 million people and no govt or law enforcement
Yeah it would be a wonderful place to live.
Some of these guys need to stop being brain washed by these underground nutjobs with their insane ideas.

And in no way am I going to single this post out, because numerous people in this thread have made the same allusion i.e. "it ain't illegal so don't attack."
But where are those people in the anti-union and pension threads? What 'laws' are being broken by unions and pension holders?
I am suprised, however, that it doesn't bother those defending corps that they lobbied for the change in principle place of business for tax purposes being the principle place of business (which we will call Delaware), yet that same corp can produce all goods out of country, can use all raw materials from non-America, can bring their products back to America and call it "American made," all of management can live in the US, and the corp and its officers can still seek all tax shelters offered. Sad. Very sad.

Outstanding post where are all those guys? Great question.
While companies are bending each and every one of us over and using the country like its their own personal litter box, guys like Rick are giving companies a free pass and instead attacking public workers and unions for the problems. The problems couldnt be from the govt having a lack of funds due to all these companies not paying a dime into the running of our country, nope that cant be the reason at all. How stupid of me to even think that could be the reason.
I think one of the biggest mysterys on this board for me is why guys are dropping to their knees and sucking off businesses so much? they must think the company is gonna call them up and take them under their wing or the only other thought i have is, are these guys all big ceos of major companies and we just dont know it?

Businesses already pay more than their fair share of taxes CD.
Thats your opinion, but i disgree 100 percent with your opinion, which by the way is biased because you are in the business of shelting companies from taxes.
Listen when a company like ge makes 14 billion in profit and they dont pay one cent of taxes on that 14 billion because they paid off politicans to change tax laws so they wouldnt pay one cent of taxes on those profits, then something is very wrong. Sorry but companies arent paying enough in taxes when shit like this is happening.

can your idea of an lvt bring in enough money to fund everything or would there still have to be something like a consumption tax also?
The Land Value Tax is not my idea. The concept of the LVT was best illustrated by The Single Tax-ers of late 19th century and early 20th century US of A. Henry George, the most famous American you've never heard of, was the 'father' of the movement, but many names you have heard before were all supporters of the Land Value Tax. Albert Einstein, Adam Smith, Martin Luther King, Winston Churchill,,,,,,,
cdnumbers, rather then waste another 15 hours on this forum today, hit the old google tab learning about it. Ask yourself, why have you never heard of The Land Value tax, or Henry George for that matter

There is no great mystery. Everyone is confused as to why we are where we are, and why everything seems so bankrupt. No one ever offers any answers, or even questions that could help lead to answers, just countless anecdotes and bitching (about being helpless). There is always a reason things are the way they are, for our surroundings are merely a result of 'our' (or the Baby Boom generations) actions

one of my elderly folks(78) is worth a few hundred million and is an
ardent obama democrat. he was in a month ago and was discussing the
bush tax cut extension and how pissed off he was and so willing to pay
extra(yet wont of course unless its law).
Well then he's simply not worth listening to because he's a hypocrite.
There is not one thing preventing him from writing a check to the Bureau of the Public Debt.
Obama voters are idiots.

You are stupid if you think that is the reason.
The federal government takes in $2.1 trillion dollars annually.
That is a staggering sum of money.
There isn't a revenue problem, there is a spending problem.
You refuse to speak to this due to your socialist outlook.
By the way, I don't see anyone speaking to the issue of job losses that will follow when the corporate tax rate goes up.
Additionally, whether you like it or not, GE has the constitutional right to lobby the government.
You also refuse to address that.

I was only referring to the older ceos being happy the company was
making a profit and workers had jobs. The older ceos werent as concerned
about making every single penny of profit for themselves
You can provide no facts or data to support this.
This dumb assertion is a figment of your imagination.

But where are those people in the anti-union and pension threads? What 'laws' are being broken by unions and pension holders?
This makes no sense.
The public sector union's are being compensated at an unsustainable rate.
Which has nothing to do with whether or not GE should be lobbying.
O'Reilly??
A Corporate lobbying effort which succeeds at a reduction in governmental income, and is supported by those who complain about governmental expenditures, lacks a correlation?

A decent example of companies taking care of their employees was all the
car companies. They didnt mind sharing the rewards of the company with
employees.
Oh man, are you being dishonest.
Wow.

Just read an arrticle a few weeks back that stated private sector workers earn more in wages then public sector workers but public sector workers earn more in benefits then private sector workers. The article stated the reason for that is because the public sector workers traded wage increases for better medical and pension plans. Looks like the public sector workers actually used their brains to try and get some im portant benefits where as the private sector workers just went for the cash like person, not looking at the bigger picture. Now the private sector workers are moaning and crying about public sector workers benefits, when their dumb asses should have been trading wages for benefits.
