Alligator Alcatraz will cost Florida taxpayers at least 450 million to operate pr year. That's not counting the cost to evacuate the location during a hurricane & finding a secure area to stage the prisoners.
I can think of a number of problems in our state that could have used 450 million to improve our living conditions. Replacing our archaic state technology & homeowner insurance relief immediately come to mind.
Meanwhile ICE is out of control just like DOGE & we are already seeing the negative impacts.
$450 million is nothing to the Trump Admin. At his current pace, that’s what it’s going to cost taxpayers just for him to golf in Term 2.

Most immigrants arrested don't have criminal records. With excess spending on immigration, funding is diverted from law enforcement for fighting real criminals. Historically, there has been no healthy law enforcement agency that expands too quickly. Detention facilities are substandard, hiring standards are lowered, training cut short and inexperienced ICE agents make more mistakes by arresting too fast. American immigration council warns costly mass deportation could reduce US GDP by trillions. However Center for American progress estimates legalization of illegal immigrants could boost GDP by trillions.
Statements like this are the reason people are becoming disillusioned with the Democratic party.
First, no one cares about their criminal records. They're very presence is illegal.
Since when has the Democrats been overly concerned about stripping funding from local law enforcement. And from what source are you even getting this. ICE funding is unrelated to that of local/state law enforcement.
Raoud growth of any entity can be complicated, but sometimes certain measures are necessary. Joe Biden absolutely failed us on illegal immigration. This isn't Republican propaganda. It's an absolute, a measurable fact. Trump kept it in check. Obama before him. Biden made it clear, with his very own words, that we were wide open.
The American Immigration Council is a organization of immigration lawyers who often provide pro bono representation to illega aliens and "asylum seekers". They clearly know nothing about economics and are throwing around arbitrary numbers. The notion that mass deportation represents a potential swing in the trillions is completely asinine.

Shrinking US work force, tax revenue, consumer spending and economic growth.
Those liberals at the US Chamber of Commerce are pro-immigration, because it’s good for the economy and good for business.
Of course people care about the criminal records. Nobody is objecting to the deportation of actual criminals who commuted violent crimes, what people are objecting to is the deportation of lawful construction workers, gardeners, child care workers, nurses, etc.
Deporting people for a criminal record and defining a “criminal record” as a “speeding ticket” is bs. It’s just a false pretense.
