Taxation in other countries especially socialized tends to be higher and getting specialized care is much more of a challenge because that cost is so much higher and the wait lines are very long.
There are a few culprits to our healthcare inflation, mainly the cost of drugs, the issue of malpractice insurance and non-payment to hospitals.
In reality the rest of the world is sucking off our pain, the cost of developing new therapies is VERY HIGH, drug companies will not invest in therapies especially high risk and slow return drugs if they were to be capped like other countries do.
Our government allows the US citizen to be gouged and that really benefits the rest of the world, but our excess profits for these companies means they will spend and take chances when otherwise they would not.
When inflation severely outstrips general inflation in any area especially for how long HC has, the reasons are DEEPLY rooted and difficult to reverse.
Had a flu shot back in last October for myself, doc's office charged me some $250. Thank heaven that i have insurance, i've only paid much less on the co-pay. While guys can get a same flu shot at Costco for only $14.99, US healthcare system is a mess.
Buddy of me has his daughter to get appendicitis surgery a couple years ago, hospital charged her over some $30,000 for the surgery. While the similar surgery costs around $1,000 in Taiwan, according my other buddy's chat. US healthcare system is a mess and grant ripoff.
