For 4 days in a row, the planet reached its hottest day ever recorded as regions all over the world endure dangerous heat.

The record was first set on Monday, eclipsed on Tuesday, and tied on Wednesday.

That record was broken on Thursday as global temperatures climbed to 17.23 degrees Celsius, or 63.01 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the NCEP.

The Spanish Climate Minister took a private jet to a climate conference, then took a motorcade from the airport.  Then 100 meters from the venue she gets out and gets on a bicycle and rides it the last 100 meters to the door while being escorted by her security detail in their limos.

If these folks want to pretend to be sincere why do they just not do a Zoom or Skype meeting.

The Holocene Climatic Optimum was a very warm period just 8 thousand years ago. Check out the temp graph compared to 2016.

The Earth has been ice-free (even at the poles) for most of its history.  However, these iceless periods have been interrupted by several major glaciations (called Glacial Epochs) and we are in one now in the 21st Century.   Each glacial epoch consists of many advances and retreats of ice fields.  These ice fields tend to wax and wane in about 100,000, 41,000 and 21,000 year cycles.  Each advance of ice has been referred to as an "Ice Age" but it is important to realize that these multiple events are just variations of the same glacial epoch.  The retreat of ice during a glacial epoch is called an Inter-Glacial Period and this is our present climate system.

Now scientists are confident that recent temperatures are higher than 6000 to 12,000 years ago.  Temperature estimates of Holoscene era have been revised according to Rutgers institute study published in Nature journal.  Apparently, man-made global warming works far faster than natural causes.  United nations IPCC confirms that global temperatures have been increasing since the last ice age, some 125,000 years ago.

Of course they have been revised. 

We'll change scientific history to fit our narative. Can't have folks pointing out the obvious.

See Alabama's record was way back in 1925, Alaska 1915, my home state of Michigan 1936, and many more. 

So let us break this down in 20yr periods. 

-1880-1899---- 3 state records recorded

-1900-1919--- 9 states, 2 more than once

-1920-1939--- 23 states have new records, a few more had tied previous records. 

-1940-1959---  3 states, 1 tied previous record

-1960-1979---  2 states with new records

1980-1999---  4 states with new records, 4 states tied previous records

2000- present--- 3 states set new records, 3 states tie previous records 

So from 1980 to present 7 state high temps recorded and 7 states tied previous high temps.

If you change the chart to record lows there are from 1980 to present 11 states with record lows set and 2 that tied previous lows.

No wonder they changed the title from Global Warming to Climate Change.

Looks like there is more revising to do!

You need to re-read the IPCC report and better comprehend what they are spewing. The last iceage was 20,000 yrs ago, not 125,000 yrs. They are downplaying the Holocene Optimum to make the present look worse than it is. They then reference the next warmest period, 125,000 yrs ago and say that pretty much matches temps seen from 2011-19. 

To improve accuracy, scientists revise old data to account for errors.  Science evolves as new evidences are discovered.  Global warming and climate change are two different things.  Global warming refers to the rise in temperatures due to increasing greenhouse gases in atmosphere.  Whereas climate change refers to increasing changes in measurements of climate such as precipitation, wind and temperature. For example, heat evaporates more water which increases risk of severe rainfall or snowfall if temperature is cold enough.

Although last ice age ended 20,000 years ago, scientists say the Earth has not been this warm since before the last ice age which lasted over 100,000 years.  That is why they are right about hottest temperatures in 120,000 years.  But if carbon emissions aren't reduced, future risk of hottest temperatures in a million years.

For years, mostly right wing media has downplayed dangers of extreme heat.  When people are dissuaded from taking safety precautions, more lives can be put at risk.  But heat is a silent killer responsible for more deaths than all weather disasters combined according to National weather service.  Apparently, humans can adapt to cold better than heat.  Many homes have furnaces but fewer have air conditioners.

I do not expect you to reply, because you never replied back to any of my points in the other Global Warming threads.  You simply abandoned the threads.

But give me an example of where the dangers of excessive heat has been downplayed.  They are, if anything, overplayed by all media when, especially when it warms up.  That is all you hear about is how dangerous the heat is.

This is all science and all about learning from mistakes and correcting misconceptions.

For example NOAA will say more deaths are from heat while the CDC will say more deaths are from cold.

Heat is not responsible for more deaths.  Yes, as it gets warmer more folks die from heat and fewer from cold but still more die from heat.

"With the number of extreme weather days rising around the globe in recent years due to global warming, it is no surprise that there has been an upward trend in hospital visits and admissions for injuries caused by high heat over the last several years. Even mildly cool temperatures can initiate hypothermia, defined as a drop in body temperature from the normal 98.7 degrees to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. When this occurs, organs and systems begin to shut down in an effort to preserve the brain. The process, once started, can be very difficult to get under control; however, people who are more regularly exposed to lower temperatures are better able to resist hypothermia.

"People who were experiencing homelessness in the records we looked at were less likely to die from temperature-related injury," Friedman said. "Because they have greater outdoor exposure, they acclimate better to both heat and cold."

Heat-related issues are more likely to self-resolve by getting to a cooler place or by hydrating, Friedman said.

The researchers looked at inpatient and outpatient heat- and cold-related injuries that required a hospital visit in Illinois between 2011 and 2018. They identified 23,834 cold-related cases and 24,233 heat-related cases. Among these patients, there were 1,935 cold-related deaths and 70 heat-related deaths."

So, you have to factor in more than just whether it is hot or cold and/or if it is excessive or not.

The human body obviously does not like any extreme weather but can handle the heat better.  

You cannot simply read what the news is saying, especially at the time it is occurring.  When it is hot, they talk about the dangers of heat; when it is cold, the same; when a flood happens, a tornado, etc.

You have to look at longterm numbers and trends, etc. as a whole to get a clearer picture.

But no one downplays anything in the media -- if anything they overplay it.
