Some of you probably know this about me...I live in Indianapolis, I run a small business making TV shows...I don't post opinions on politics here, I just bet on them.
Just checked the lines put out by 5dimes...
Hillary moved up as the favorite.
I live in Indianapolis, and I've lived in the midwest my entire life. I shoot TV shows every week and weekend...they are very diverse shows, and I talk to a lot of different people from different areas, and mindsets, and I'm telling everyone...
I don't know how Trump did on national undecided votes. I think if you were truly impartial, and didn't know who to vote for, you would leave this debate leaning towards voting for Clinton.
But his message is hitting HARD with midwest working class. The first 1/3 of the debate couldn't have gone better for Trump, and his republican base. The rest of the debate was completely irrelevant to that demographic. He came across strong, for US jobs, and tough against foreign countries.
Believe me, most of the people in that demographic don't care about fact checking, political prowess, and experience. They want to hear toughness, nationalism, and someone against foreigners and foreign countries. I live here, I see and hear it every day. A lot of the people here don't want to hear a politician pumping her book and website...they want to hear that they matter, and that that they don't have to be scared of foreigners. That's their main worry, and he's hitting it, and she isn't.
Trump doesn't have to win national polls. Those are worthless. He has to win swing states, and after tonight, I'm not going to be surprised if he wins Ohio and Michigan. He went right after them, and I think there are enough of those people he can appeal to in those states to win them. If he does...game on.
Working middle class around here have been worked into an angry frenzy over the last few years (you can debate whether it's from media or from actual life experiences), but the biggest issues aren't resume, preparedness, experience, economy, facts...
It's foreigners, foreign countries, and "politics as usual".
It cracks me up watching these reaction shows in NY, or LA, and they have no clue what the pulse is in the midwest with some of these key states of Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. They don't know what a lot of these people are thinking.
It's easy to examine the debate, and scrutinize and nit-pick, but I'm telling you...the midwest working class don't give a sh*t about all that. He promises he'll be tough on foreigners and foreign countries, and he's not a "politician". It is resonating around here.
