So the clintons paid 34.2% tax rate.

What was Romney at? Something like 14%? Why hasn't Trump released his returns? He states that he will do all he can to pay as little as possible. Cool huh?

I'm not sure the point you are trying to make.

Are you suggesting that the Clintons are on the up-and-up?
That they are fair, and play by the rules?
Or are you simply suggesting that they are somehow less corrupt than the others you referenced?

Matt, should you answer "yes" to any of the 3 questions I just posed, I will not respond with the litany of facts that are readily available for purposes of dispute. It's simply not worth the minimal effort it would require.

I will direct you to go study about capital gains and why they are taxed at a lower rate. The fact that you even brought it up suggests that you are clueless about it.

By the way, did you happen to notice that the Clinton's gave 1,042,000 to charity? Care to guees which charity got 1 million....Clinton Family Foundation.

i am well aware of capital gains. I am also well aware of absolute vs relative values.

and I am also well aware that the Clintons are not the shining example of ethical behavior.

Which makes it even stranger that the GOP has put support behind Trump.  What a disgrace they are.

To be honest I am really not sure what my point is either. Just came across this while eating breakfast and was a little surprised especially in light of Romneys 14% and Trump refusing to share his. But other than that no real agenda here for me.

just a non-partisan independent enjoying a breakfast taco and a cup of coffee on this Saturday morning.

trump will never release his taxes, thats like a mob boss telling the world who he gave orders to whack.

remember folks, baack in the day the mob controlled the unions. thus trump somehow got permits and people from poland to work on his buildings. even the big real estate families could not get people to work or permits!

on top of that the polish immigrants were paid 4$ an hour. 12 hour days. and when completed they were not paid for the final month and kicked out of the country.

this is how trump made his fortune.

Well Romney made most of his money on investments so income from such is taxed at a lower rate so.....if you knew about capital gains you would never have questioned it or tried to make the comparison to the Clinton's.

I bet you glossed over the fact that the Clinton's gave 1 million to their own charity too. So it's not like they gave a grundal to St. Jude or something honorable.

So you are suggesting there is something wrong with trying to pay as little taxes as possible?  Tell you what since you feel that way why not just pay mine for me this year?

No I think it's more of an honesty and integrity move...  And a non-partisan independent who is honest and has integrity, I think both sides shouldn be transparent and release their tax info...

Not sure why anyone would argue that trump shouldn't act with honesty and integrity...  Well... unless they lack honesty and integrity themselves...

It is cool. It should be the duty of every American, to pay as little taxes, as possible (within the bounds of the law) ,,to avoid enriching our wasteful Government..

Having said that.. Trump should release his taxes.

The American people need to know as much as possible about a person that's being entrusted with the most powerful position in the world.   Americans should demand that Presidential candidates release their tax records, their college transcripts ,,any Goldman Sachs speeches they have given,, as well as their medical records..

All this information should be made public before we elect someone as president of the United States of America..if this is done maybe we will elect the right person this time..........

Yet he won't,  and stands on the opposite side of honesty and integrity...

And I'm sure you an the other lemmings will stand with him...  It make sense tho considering your continued support of the usual suspects known for their lack of honesty and integrity...

Funny how things all work out so well in the end

See that is a realistic view tho... I never understand the view point of those that advocate for people richer than them to pay less taxes rather than focusing on reducing their own taxes...

The real question should be why won't hitlery release her wallstreet transcripts? Why won't hitlery release a list of her clinton foundation donors?  Who cares about tax returns.

    Agreed

Like I said both sides should be doing the same thing regardless of party or affiliation... Careful tho, independent, realistic and thoughtful ideas are often met with such weird and often opposition and emotional reactions...  I think you make these level headed common sense threads like just to expose the lemmings

since when has a presidential candidate had to release transcripts of any kind? your logic is always flawed

We like to assign odds to the probability of an event occurring. What are the odds that Trump releases his taxes before election? I'll start the bidding at 100 to 1.

If someone has to tell you that they are honest or that they are independent, that's probably a good reason to suspect otherwise.

Mainman11111, why do you not want Hillary to release her speech? Worried about her words?

New twist why he won't release his taxes. Deeply in debt to the Russians. But I'm sure that don the con would never let that affect his views on foreign policy. By the way what is his foreign policy?

Who doesn't try to pay the least amount possible on their taxes? Are you saying you skip all your deductions and pay the max amount?

As long as they are not breaking any laws I am all for paying the least possible.
