Security clearance is critical when active national security officers need the context of a historical framework to make informed decisions. Its simple management 101 and a common practice that actually makes us safer. But we know it's amateur hour with most trump supporters; this requires too deep an analysis. It's easier to simply shoot another Hillary and Obama arrow from their quiver.

Many years ago (late 90's) I was told a Top Secret clearance would take 9 months to get. For a brief time I worked for a defense contractor and had to eventually get one if I stayed on. I ended up taking another job in a different sector and sometimes I wonder if they would of given a schmuck like me security clearance. From my very LIMITED understanding security clearance for these guys (Brennan, McRaven) is needed so current employees (example, supreme commander of NATO ... etc, etc) can solicit advice from the former guy that held the same position. In the end experience matters and you can't consult your elders if they don't have relevant and recent intelligence briefings/reports. That's just my two cents regarding this matter.

In third letter showing growing support, over 175 former state department and pentagon officers criticize vindictive Trump for revoking Brennan's security clearance. They served both republican and democratic presidents.
